GREAT JOB 5th GRADE!!! Not only did you WOW us at the band concert Monday night, but the Wax Museum was AMAZING as always! Thank you to the 5th grade teachers for all their hard work preparing the students and for the parents for your support in getting the students ready to shine!
This is our last full week of the school year! Here is what is coming up:
1. No more Power Hour
2. Field Day is Friday, all are welcome. See information on flyer below. All students are rotating stations throughout the day. We have a big cool-down lunch break in the middle! You are welcome to come in the morning or afternoon...or both. We do not room for families to stay and eat, however.

Attendance and School Calendars
Receive an Attendance Email from School?
If you receive an attendance letter from school, it is meant to inform you of your student's absences or tardies. This way you can also keep track of the days gone and how to plan ahead to
miss fewer days.
When Your Child Misses School:
One week gone is approximately 7.5 hours of instruction lost in reading and in math. That doesn't include the extra time teachers provide to check for understanding and mastery of concepts so they can move on to the next concept. We see some students really struggle to get caught back up when they've missed extended time. We attempt to make it up during school hours, but your child may be required to stay after school to work with teachers or our tutors.
Please take note of our school calendars when planning your family's vacations.
Attendance is a focus at BES and we want your children at school! It can be very difficult for students to get caught up sometimes when they miss for extended periods of time. For example, when a student misses a week of school, that is up to 450 minutes of math instruction they are missing!
If your family does have a trip planned, we do not provide lessons or materials ahead of those trips. Teachers will work with you to schedule times when your student can be given that instruction and guided work time to ensure mastery of skills. This may have to happen before or after school, but we will also try to work during the school day as well.
GREAT school habits now help prepare students for future success!
