A Note About the Placement Process at Green Meadow A Note About the Placement Process at Green Meadow

As we near the end of the school year, conversations often arise about class placement for the year ahead. We’d like to take a moment to share some information about the thoughtful and collaborative process we use at Green Meadow to support every child’s success.

Our placement process begins in April, when staff begin reviewing each student cohort by grade level. During this process, we consider both academic progress and social-emotional development. Initial class groupings are created by classroom teachers, special educators, and ESL teachers, with input from service providers, counselors, specialist teachers, and administrators.

Once these preliminary cohorts are formed, placement teams revisit the groupings to ensure each student has at least one meaningful peer connection. It’s important to note that these groups are not built around specific teacher assignments. Instead, they are created to best meet the needs of students, while considering the resources available to our school.

After class cohorts are finalized, they are then matched with classroom teachers, ESL teachers, and special educators.

We deeply value the insights families share with us. While we are not able to honor specific teacher or peer placement requests due to public school policy, we often find that parent input aligns closely with staff observations.

Thank you for your continued trust and partnership as we work together to provide a supportive and enriching learning environment for all students.

Grade 3 to Grade 4 Transition Information Grade 3 to Grade 4 Transition Information

  • On May 23rd, current 3rd-grade students will visit Fowler with grades four and five to enjoy the Flying High Dogs assembly. The assembly will start at 9:30, so we will be leaving Green Meadow for the short walk just around 9:10.

  • On June 12th, current 3rd-grade students will visit Fowler. During this visit, the students will receive a personalized peer-to-peer tour with teacher supervision. Additionally, a mini band and chorus performance will help the students better understand these options.

  • On June 13th, Mr. Snyder and I will host a remote session from 12:30 to 1:30 for all caregivers. During this session, we will provide an overview of "A Day in the Life of a 4th-Grade Fowler Student," with Q&A time included. The presentation will be recorded and shared for those unable to attend. We are also available to answer any questions outside of this meeting. Please take a look at the link included below.

Loss and grieving a loss are universal human experiences, ones that impact people of all ages. Children need to grieve too, whether it be around the loss of a family member, pet, or a close friend who has moved away. Kids can move through various stages of loss and grief anywhere, anytime, at home and even at school. While adults often aim to minimize the impact of difficult experiences on children, we can’t protect them from the pain of loss. Here are some guidelines for how adults can help children deal with their grief. These children's books about loss and grief may be especially helpful during a difficult time. Questions or feedback?
