A Note About the Placement Process at Green Meadow
As we near the end of the school year, conversations often arise about class placement for the year ahead. We’d like to take a moment to share some information about the thoughtful and collaborative process we use at Green Meadow to support every child’s success.
Our placement process begins in April, when staff begin reviewing each student cohort by grade level. During this process, we consider both academic progress and social-emotional development. Initial class groupings are created by classroom teachers, special educators, and ESL teachers, with input from service providers, counselors, specialist teachers, and administrators.
Once these preliminary cohorts are formed, placement teams revisit the groupings to ensure each student has at least one meaningful peer connection. It’s important to note that these groups are not built around specific teacher assignments. Instead, they are created to best meet the needs of students, while considering the resources available to our school.
After class cohorts are finalized, they are then matched with classroom teachers, ESL teachers, and special educators.
We deeply value the insights families share with us. While we are not able to honor specific teacher or peer placement requests due to public school policy, we often find that parent input aligns closely with staff observations.
Thank you for your continued trust and partnership as we work together to provide a supportive and enriching learning environment for all students.
Grade 3 to Grade 4 Transition Information
On May 23rd, current 3rd-grade students will visit Fowler with grades four and five to enjoy the Flying High Dogs assembly. The assembly will start at 9:30, so we will be leaving Green Meadow for the short walk just around 9:10.
On June 12th, current 3rd-grade students will visit Fowler. During this visit, the students will receive a personalized peer-to-peer tour with teacher supervision. Additionally, a mini band and chorus performance will help the students better understand these options.
On June 13th, Mr. Snyder and I will host a remote session from 12:30 to 1:30 for all caregivers. During this session, we will provide an overview of "A Day in the Life of a 4th-Grade Fowler Student," with Q&A time included. The presentation will be recorded and shared for those unable to attend. We are also available to answer any questions outside of this meeting. Please take a look at the link included below.

Green Meadow End of Year Events
K-2 Concert
Thank you to everyone who attended our K-2 Concert this morning. It was quite a crowd! We truly appreciate your support for our music program and our young performers. Special thanks to Natalie Wong, our Music teacher, for her work preparing students for the event. Shout out to Julian Ramos, Green Meadow Paraprofessional, for his solo during the Grade 1 performance. Many thanks to Taylor Vanaria, our Art teacher, for working with students to create the decorations. We are pretty confident that some of you are still singing the guacamole song in your heads!
Preschool Snack and Sing
Preschool families are invited to join their child's class for a snack and a special music class with Ms.Wong. The preschool team will communicate the details with families. Please note the schedule below.
Field Day
Our annual Field Day event organized by Randy Wood, our physical education teacher, will be held at Crowe Park on Tuesday, June 3, with a rain date of Thursday, June 5. The PTO will share a volunteer sign-up. Students in Kindergarten and Grade 1 will attend from 9-10:30 AM, and students in Grade 2 and Grade 3 will attend from 1:00 - 2:30 PM. Students will need to wear athletic attire (t-shirt and shorts), sneakers, and socks. We recommend a hat or sunglasses, and of course, a water bottle. All students should come to school wearing sunscreen that day.
Grade 3 Moving On Ceremony
Our traditional Grade 3 Moving On Ceremony is scheduled for Tuesday, June 17, at 9:00 AM. We will be celebrating their time at Green Meadow and wishing them well at Fowler. Families are invited to attend. Students will be performing some of the musical pieces they have been working on this Spring. Grade 3 teachers will share more information as the date gets closer.
Grade 3 Clap Out
We will be recognizing our third grades on the last day with the traditional Grade 3 Clap Out. Third Graders will take a last lap around the building while students and staff clap and wish them well as they transition to Fowler. Families are invited to continue to Clap Out by lining up near the Library dismissal doors. If your child will be riding the bus that day we will still have them exit from this door before joining their bus line.
