đ Principal News đ
Malvern Families,
Weâre moving full speed into December, and thereâs so much to celebrate and look forward to. This Friday is the final day to donate canned green beans and corn for MacTown Heroes. Your generosity has already made a meaningful impact, and we are grateful for every family who has contributed. Each can helps support members of our community, and our Red Hawks continue to demonstrate kindness and service in powerful ways.
Middle of Year MAP testing is now underway, and our scholars are working hard to show the incredible growth theyâve made so far. Please continue supporting them with consistent attendance, plenty of rest, and arriving at school on time. Our teachers have prepared them well, and weâre excited to see just how much progress theyâve made this semester.
We also hope you have Red Hawk Family Night locked into your calendars. This special evening is always a highlight of the year, filled with hands-on curriculum activities, the Scholastic Book Fair, and a festive visit with Santa. Itâs a wonderful time for families to learn, connect, and enjoy the spirit of our school community together.
Thank you for all you do to support Malvern. Weâre looking forward to finishing December strong.
Proud to be a Red Hawk,

December Counseling Focus
Looking Ahead to December:
We will shift our focus to Habit #4: Think Win-Win, teaching students how to seek positive solutions where everyone benefits. Our character trait for the month will be Empathy, as we guide students to understand and respect the feelings and experiences of others.
Thank you for supporting these conversations at home. Together, we are helping our Red Hawks grow into thoughtful, kind, and capable leaders!
Letâs Make a Difference Together!

Student Well-Being
At Malvern, student well-being is a top priority. Throughout the year, our counselor provides age-appropriate lessons that help students recognize âbigâ feelings, identify trusted adults, and practice coping strategies. Each elementary campus also displays the required âYou Are Not Aloneâ poster so students know support is always available.
Our approach to suicide prevention focuses on helping students:
- Manage their emotions
- Understand that tough moments are temporary
- Notice when someone may need help
- Know who they can trust
- Use healthy coping skills
- Find support when they need it
Thank you for partnering with us to support the emotional health of every Red Hawk. Please review MISDâs Suicide Prevention Parent and Guardian Newsletter by selecting the button below.
Visitors and Volunteers
MISD requires every visitor/volunteer to report to the office to sign in and receive a visitor badge. At the camera outside of the school, please state your name, show your ID, and explain why you are here at school.
A software system called âHallpass School Visitor Managementâ is used to scan in visitors. A valid, unexpired state or government issued photo ID must be presented each time you visit, volunteer, or pick up a student. If you arrive on campus without your driverâs license, you will be asked to leave and return to campus when you have identification. A photocopy of your ID will not be accepted.
MISD requires that volunteers complete a criminal background check every school year. If you plan to volunteer anywhere in the building or chaperone a field trip, please complete the required volunteer application.
MISD will not offer a grace period this school year for you to complete your annual background check. All background checks must be completed and approved before you can serve on campus.
Hawk Squad Call to Action
Hawk Squad is a fun, high-energy volunteer program where we welcome students each morning with high fives, compliments, positivity, and enthusiasm as they head into class! Getting started is simpleâjust complete the standard MISD volunteer background check and fill out the form linked here. (Please note: by completing this form you are giving your personal information to a Malvern parent.)
In addition to morning greetings, we also help out at various school events throughout the year. Our goal is to grow Hawk Squad into a strong and lasting traditionâand weâd love for you to be a part of it!
Active members will have the opportunity to purchase an exclusive, custom Hawk Squad t-shirt to wear and keep.
We welcome everyoneâdads, moms, grandparents, and more! If you're ready to have fun and make a difference, sign up and join the squad. We canât wait to meet you!
