Warhawk Culture
As I reflect on our first quarter of the 2025–26 school year, I’m so proud of the incredible start we’ve had together. The energy, commitment, and care that fill our halls each day truly make Westerville Central a special place.
This week, we’re focusing on one of our core Warhawk Beliefs — Own It. That means making a difference and acting with purpose every day. It’s about owning our actions, attitude, and words, showing integrity, and doing the right thing — even when no one is watching.
Each of us has our own space to influence — our 20 square feet — and how we use that space matters. When we show kindness, lead by example, and support one another, we help make Central stronger and better for everyone.
And let’s remember — we GET TO come together each day to make a difference for our school and community. There is SO MUCH GOOD happening at Central — in classrooms, on the field, on the stage, and in the ways we care for each other. Let’s continue to notice it, celebrate it, and share it!
Thank you for continuing to Own It and for being part of what makes our Warhawk community so special.
WINGS UP !
Mrs. Sayre
Principal
Our Warhawk Blueprint outlines what we believe, how we behave and outcomes we hope to achieve together at WCHS. These beliefs are our guidepost that provide alignment in all we do.

Fly Time PBIS Contest - October and November
We are excited to announce a new school-wide initiative designed to support our students and foster a focused learning environment. As part of our Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) program, the PBIS committee has designed a Fly Time Contest for October and November.
The primary goal of this contest is to positively reinforce our new school phone laws, helping students build healthy habits and minimize distractions during the school day. We believe this positive incentive will help our students Pursue Excellence every day in our classrooms and hallways.
Here’s how the Fly Time Contest works:
Weekly Challenge: Each week, we will reward the Fly Time groups (homeroom/advisory) that have zero students on the phone violation list.
Recognition and Rewards: Teachers of the winning Fly Time groups will receive a certificate to celebrate their students' success.
Building Momentum: These groups will also accumulate points throughout October and November, working towards a larger group reward at the end of the challenge.
How You Can Help: We encourage you to talk with your student about the importance of our school's phone policy and this fun, new contest. Your encouragement can help them support their Fly Time peers in achieving their weekly goal.
Thank you for your partnership in creating the best possible learning environment for all our students. We look forward to celebrating their success!

School Clinic
Happy Fall Warhawk Families!
‘Tis the (cold and flu) Season…
Is your child not feeling their best? When they’re sick, the best way to recover -and protect others- is to rest at home. Students can return to school once fever free for 24 hours and symptoms have improved. Our school clinics follow all Ohio Department of Health guidelines to help manage and prevent the spread of illnesses and communicable diseases. Please let me know if your child is diagnosed with any contagious condition. We report these to our local health departments in accordance with public health requirements.
If your student becomes ill at school…
Please remind your student to check in with the clinic if they are not feeling well. We will evaluate their symptoms and then notify you directly if needed. Take a moment to review your child’s emergency contacts listed in Powerschool and make sure it is up to date. This allows someone other than you to pick up your child if you are not able to. If you need to add anyone to the list or make any changes, contact our guidance secretary, Carrie Shaffer, at shafferc@westerville.k12.oh.us.
Parents of Juniors:
Please start planning to get your student the REQUIRED Meningitis MCV4 booster before their senior year next fall. These can be done at your child’s annual well visit, local health departments, pharmacies, or health clinics. I am happy to help with scheduling if needed!
