THE CCS NEWSLETTER
Charlotte Central School - April 10, 2026
CCS Community,
A couple of quick reminders:
SPARK after-school club sign-ups are now open and they close this Sunday.
Caregiver input forms for 2026-27 placement were emailed yesterday—please complete them by Friday, 4/17.
Now, let’s talk about SpongeBob and the CCS stage.
I’ve never heard such joy in the CCS MPR as I did yesterday—from both our audience and performers. What an incredible production of The SpongeBob Musical! Don’t miss your chance to see it and cheer on our talented students.

Yesterday’s performance also marked something more. A year ago, we set out to reimagine our stage—with new curtains, a restored and enhanced sound system, and a state-of-the-art lighting system. While the performers were outstanding, the space itself felt transformed—brighter, more vibrant, and worthy of the work happening on it.
As we celebrate this production and the many people who brought it to life, we also pause to honor someone special through the dedication of the renewal of this stage:
In Dedication: Honoring Tom Williams and a Community Stage
Over the last year, we have set our sights on upgrading the Charlotte Central School stage for our students, for those to come, and for the greater community in and beyond Charlotte.
This work has been a true community effort. In May, CCS caregiver Mike Dellacava helped bring our sound system back to life and has continued to give generously of his time and expertise ever since. In June, we installed a new curtain, and this past February, a new, energy-efficient lighting system.
A vision like this only becomes reality through the collective support of people who believe in it. The CCS PTO has been a champion of this work from the very beginning, helping to make these improvements possible. We are also deeply grateful to John Canning of PCC in Winooski, whose generosity helped bring this vision fully to life.
John’s support is rooted in a friendship—with Tom Williams.
Tom attended CCS from kindergarten through 8th grade, from 1980 to 1989. He loved theater and stood in this very space as a young child, just as his father had before him—and as his children have in recent years and continue to do today. That love of theater lives on in his family. He and Zoe raised children who have each taken the stage here at CCS, including two who will perform in this production.
With this production of The SpongeBob Musical, we pause to dedicate the renewal of this community stage to the memory of Thomas W. Williams, Jr.
We are grateful to the PTO for their unwavering support, and to John for his extraordinary generosity in honoring his friend in such a lasting way.
And we remember Tom—with appreciation for the joy he found on this stage, the love of theater he passed on, and the way his story continues to shape this space for generations of CCS students.
With gratitude,
Tim O’Leary
Principal, Charlotte Central School

HCS/CCS Study Community Update
You may have seen recent coverage from VTDigger and WPTZ about the ongoing study assessing the feasibility of restructuring HCS and CCS. As you might be aware, last May, the CVSD School Board asked district administration to evaluate the current and potential future configuration of both schools.
This year, a committee of educators, administrators and community members has been compiling data to assess the feasibility of moving grades 6-8 from HCS to CCS. The committee is analyzing potential impacts on everything from student opportunity to transportation, facilities, and more, and determining if a restructuring could improve student outcomes, increase equity in facilities and access to co-curriculars, and create opportunities within the budget. To clarify, this study is not about closing a school, nor is there a predetermined outcome, recommendation or timeline for potential reconfiguration.
On Tuesday, May 19, this committee will present their findings and recommendation to the Board at their regularly scheduled meeting. No action will be taken at that time. If this process continues beyond May 19, the next steps will involve staff and community engagement, discussion and feedback, as well as likely further analysis.
We appreciate your interest and engagement with this topic. Please feel free to reach out to your building principal if you have any questions or want to further connect.
