New Year---New Goals!
Greetings NES Families!
Students will have Mid Year testing for I-Ready and m-Class. This will give us an accurate picture of students' progress during this school year. Please encourage students to get their rest and do their best! If you have questions about the testing or results, please do not hesitate to contact me or your child's teacher. Teachers will be sending home a copy of the results by next week. We would like you to review them and sign it.

We're in the 3rd nine weeks of the school year...consider checking in with your student about GOALS. These could be short term or long term goals for this school year. A goal could be academic or personal. Examples: Be More Organized, Keep My Room Clean, Study Class Notes for 15 Minutes Each Day, or Read for 30 Minutes Each Day. As a family, post the goals in a visible location. Then, have check ins or family meetings to discuss progress (highs and lows). This is a GREAT way to boost communication and support in the home. Keep us posted on the progress! We would love to hear some good news.
Sincerely,
Nell Sydnor-Waugh
NES Principal (Grades 2-5)

Thanks to our Eagle Encouragers for the new NES Sweatshirts!

Attendance
Attending school each day and being on time to school are extremely important to a student’s academic development and achievement. Every day a student is in school is an opportunity to learn, build relationships, and access needed support.Too many absences can cause children to fall behind and make it harder to learn to read. Students are expected to attend school at least 95% of the time. During a 180-day school year, that means students should miss no more than nine days. Each parent/legal guardian is responsible for regular and punctual attendance of any child in their charge within the compulsory age for school attendance. If possible, please try to schedule appointments after school or on Teacher Workdays when students are not in school.
If your child is sick, please send a note. It's recommended that students be symptom free for 24 hours for most illnesses or by the doctor's return date. Medical notes are recommended, especially for consecutive absences. Please contact the school if you have questions or concerns. Mrs. Rogers and Mrs. Shull can assist you. We're here to help!
