French Camp Elementary School

Happy Friday everyone. Please enjoy your weekend. Be ready to close the school year strong because there is still a lot to do. I would also like to remind everyone that teaching and learning will continue until the end of the school year. I understand there are myriad planned fun activities coming up, but our students need to continue learning all the way to the end. Additionally, please ensure your students have something to do while they are eating breakfast in the morning. Every minute counts.

• The Backcasting form was updated this week. Please take a moment to reflect on the progress we have made toward meeting our Smart goals in all the target areas. We have made progress in some areas, but we are not there yet. Let us also remember that this is a three-year plan. We have time. WE WILL BE THERE.

• As you all know by heart now, the work we do at French camp has been and will be guided by our Strategic Plan.
• This is a three-year plan, and we are approaching the end of the first reporting cycle.
• The link above will take you to the form that contains our progress toward meeting the goals (Back Casting) thus far into this first year.
• Remember, our goals are aligned with the MUSD's targets: Safety, Standards, and Emerging Students.
• We may not be there in certain areas, but everyone has been working hard to ensure our students are learning at high levels.
• I am confident in our ability to meet every goal by May 2027.

Emergency Buckets

• We have finally found the Emergency Buckets!
• Somehow, they ended up in the old building and no one knew the boxes were there, but we have them now.
• Our custodial team will be delivering them to your classrooms within the next two weeks.
• They will also be collecting the old Emergency Backpacks. Please have them ready for them.
• We will give you the exact day once we have it solidified.

• Next Safety Drill will be on May 16th at 8:45 AM.
• Fire
• Please use Catapult to account four yourselves and your students. We need to be sure everyone is safe and accounted for.
• Here are Fire drill procedures:

• Catapult will be activated at 8:45 followed by the fire alarm.
• An PA announcement will follow immediately.
• Please do not evacuate your rooms until you hear the PA announcement.
• Leave your doors unlocked and take students to the designated area.

You may remember that last year French Camp was recognized as a California PBIS Bronze. This year we are aiming for GOLD! The application will be submitted this month. I am confident we will achieve this feat. We will keep you posted.

As you all can see, in April almost made it to our 94% attendance rate goal. Thank you everyone.

Our chronic yearly absenteeism rate as of April 30th, 2025, is 16.51%. The 2024 California Dashboard reported that our chronic absenteeism report was at 28.2% during the 2023-2024 school. We are surely making progress in this area, but we can and will bring this rate lower during the 2025-2026 school year. Please motivate your students to be here, on time every day.

We want to recognize and honor students who have perfect attendance. This month students who have had perfect attendance will have the opportunity to enter in a very special raffle. We will keep you posted.
