Message from the Coordinator
Dear Families!
I hope that you have been enjoying this wonderful fall weather we have been having. It's always great to see what northwestern Wisconsin offers in its natural beauty. One of our character education focuses is Curiosity. Our staff does a great job cultivating lessons, activities, and service projects that spark our students' curiosity.
Our goal to create lifelong learning! Students at RCA are regularly being exposed to concepts, ideas and opportunities. Our goal is to always leave them wondering.
Diaper Drive
Renaissance staff and students collected 5025 diapers. A big thank you to Ms. Linda Yde for reaching out to our students and staff to participate in such a wonderful event.
Cairns Woods Field Trip
Ms. Kania’s Natural Resources Class traveled to Cairns Woods in Ellsworth. Students met with a DNR Forester to learn about the management strategies in the demonstration forest. Students also practiced timber cruising by using industry tools to calculate the amount of usable lumber in the lumber plot. Students had a great time exploring and learning from the forester. What a great way to demonstrate our Character Trait - Curiosity!
Students LOVE collecting acorns
Empty Bowls
Ms. Graham and I had the pleasure of representing RCA and the HS at the Empty Bowls community event. It was also great to see Ms. Mader and Ms. Bingenheimer there as well. Students from RCA donated 3-D Bowls and Greenwood students displayed their pottery skills. It was fun to see our bowls get selected!

Academic Fridays are held on every Friday from 2:30-3:30 pm, except the first Friday of the month.
Your student will be notified on Wednesdays if they need to attend Academic Friday. Parents will be notified on Thursdays that their student will need to attend. Once a student has completed their missing work, they may leave
Students who are failing classes, missing more than five (5) formative assignments or any summative assignments will be required to stay on Fridays from 2:30 pm to 3:30 pm to receive academic support.
This applies to Work-Based Learning students. If your student does not attend, the attendance policy will apply.
The goal of Academic Fridays is to eliminate missing work from piling up and creating anxiety. Last year it was a huge success ~ we expect the same for this year!
There is a bus available from RCA to the elementary schools after Academic Fridays. Students should let the main office know by 2:00 on Fridays if they need a bus after Academic Friday.

Energy Assistance Season To Begin
West CAP is gearing up to once again provide energy assistance for families who need help with their heating and electric bills for this coming season. The Wisconsin Home Energy Assistance Program (WHEAP) assistance is a one-time payment during the heating season (October 1-May 15). The funding pays a portion of energy costs, but it is not intended to cover the entire energy costs of a residence. The amount of assistance depends on a variety of factors, including the household’s size, income, and energy expenses. In most cases, the benefit is paid directly to the household’s energy supplier. Crisis assistance is also available for those who have no heat, are nearly out of fuel or electricity has been or will soon be shut off.
For those enrolled in WHEAP, West CAP can also provide Weatherization services to help renters and homeowners reduce their energy costs and improve the comfort and safety of the home. Common improvements include insulation, sealing air leaks, updating heating systems, and installing energy-saving appliances. Visit our website for details on how to apply.

Truancy Diversion Plan Overview

Key Components:
Personalized Goals: Students will receive weekly attendance goals outlined on their plan sheet.
Staff Mentor Assignment: Each student will be paired with a staff mentor for a weekly 5-10 minute check-in.
Weekly Check-Ins: Students will meet with Ms. Graham weekly to review progress and access support. The SBIRT program will also be applied.
Family Communication: An initial and final meeting with staff and parents/guardians. Families will receive weekly progress emails and must confirm receipt. Daily absence notifications will continue through Infinite Campus.
