A Message from the Principal
Dear Academy Families and Friends,
The April Recess is here! It was a great week at Academy!
Just a couple of reminders:
- Spirit week was a huge hit-tune into our facebook page for more pictures of some springtime fun around the campus!
- Parent Council and School Council met last week. Thank you to our Council Members as well as all of our parent volunteers-we shared out the list of end of the year activities!
- Thank you to our 1st and 2nd grade families for getting all the chromebooks and devices back to school. Going forward, the K-2 devices will be kept in school on tech carts. More info to come for grades 3-5.
- Spring Running Club starts, Wednesday, April 29th after school.
- Water Day was a so much fun. Students worked with folks from the North South River Watershed Alliance to get some hands on science about the importance of water. Big thank you to all the volunteers who made the event possible.
Have a great April break,
Mr. Patrick J. Higgins
Principal

This Just In...
Panorama Spring Survey
This is a reminder that students will be participating in a Panorama survey again this Spring. The survey asks students to reflect on topics such as emotion regulation, social awareness, supportive relationships, feelings, and belonging, and takes about 20 minutes to complete. Since opt-out forms were collected in the Fall, no further action is needed unless your preference has changed. If you would now like your child to opt out, please complete this Google Form by Friday, April 17th.
Playground Etiquette
Playground Expectations
As the weather continues to improve, we are so excited to see our Academy families using the playground after school. Consistency is so important for our students that we find it important to share with you our playground expectations that we provide to the students during the school day. We hope this carries over to after school and beyond:
Everyone plays – Every game is open to whoever wants to play as long as those playing are being safe, respectful and responsible during the game. Including others are expected behaviors.
Play safe – Students must play so that they and others are not physically or emotionally hurt. Students must avoid rough play, unsafe play, and name-calling. Examples of unsafe play include jumping from the top of the play structure or sliding into someone still on or near the end of the slide.
Be Respectful- Students will listen and follow directions. They will be kind and provide other students an opportunity to use the play structure. Keep hands and feet to themselves. Please stay away and out of the woods and please remember to keep sticks and stones on the ground and away from the play areas. Ball play should be reserved to the baseball field and away from the play structures.
Lip Sync is Back...Don't Delay Sign Up Today!
What is Lip Sync? A group of students will pretend to sing and dance on stage in costume to a song. Music will be provided by each group.
Who can participate? Groups of Academy Avenue students. In the spirit of friendship and cooperation, please accept students into existing groups and discourage students from excluding anyone. Each group must have only one Adult contact. The Adult contact is responsible for coordinating the groups routine, practices, and keeping other parents/guardians informed.
Due to this event's popularity we need to limit the number of acts. We will close this form once we have 33 entries
Registration Deadline is Thursday, April 30th
