LAMBERT
July 2025 Edition
Dear Longhorn Families,
We are so excited to welcome our Longhorns HOME on Tuesday!
To our Freshmen and new families, we look forward to seeing you Monday at our Freshmen & New Longhorn Roundup (see details below for arrival times and what to expect). To make lines run efficiently, if your student plans to utilize a locker, please purchase on School Pay prior to arriving at Roundup and screenshot your receipt.
All the information you need for the first day of school is below in this month's newsletter. To my fellow parents of Seniors, be sure to see the sections regarding Senior pictures, Senior Info Night, Class of 2026 shirt orders, Senior Sunrise, and more.
It's going to be a great year! We are stronger together, so thank you for partnering with us for the success of our students. I can't wait to see them all on Tuesday!
Hook 'em!

Principal

FCS NEW PERSONAL DEVICE POLICY
In alignment with GA HB340, the Distraction-Free Education Act, which mandates that local school systems establish policies governing personal electronic device use for students in kindergarten through 8th grade, Forsyth County Schools has extended these restrictions to include high school students.
By 8:25 A.M., all devices must be stored in a locker or backpack (not on your person) and powered off.
Devices may not be accessed during or between classes, but students will be able to use them during their assigned lunch period.
Devices may be used again after dismissal.
Personal devices include:
Cell phones
Earbuds/headphones
Smartwatches
Personal Tablets or Laptops
Smart glasses
Any similar communication/electronic device
CHROMEBOOKS FOR ALL
Every student will be issued a school-assigned device (Chromebook) for academic use within the first week of school. Students are expected to charge their devices each night and bring them to school each day, just like any other essential school supply.
Students will not be issued their individual Chromebook until the Electronic Device Violation Contract and Chromebook Acknowledgement forms have been signed in Parent Portal, so be sure to do this A.S.A.P.
We strongly recommend purchasing a Chromebook cover and accidental damage coverage, which are both available on School Pay. While stickers and personalized labels are not permitted directly on the Chromebooks, covers provide a great way for students to personalize and easily identify their device. Order soon—quantities are limited, and we have a set number of covers available for purchase.
If you have already purchased a Chromebook Cover, come by the Front Office during regular office hours pick up your cover.
BACK TO SCHOOL CHECKLIST
Before the first day of school on August 5th, be sure to...
- Login to School Pay to purchase any and all of the following:
- Locker (pay before Roundup and screenshot your receipt!)
- Parking Pass (Juniors & Seniors only)
- Chromebook Covers and Accidental Damage Coverage
- PTSO Membership
- Review the new FCS Personal Device Policy (see detailed information above)
- Add funds to your student's lunch account
- Complete all Beginning of the Year Forms In Parent Portal
BEGINNING OF THE YEAR FORMS
Please check Parent Portal for required permission and handbook sign-off forms. These should be signed off prior to the first day of school on Tuesday, August 5th.
This is also the time to double check all email addresses, mailing addresses, and phone numbers for your family’s household. Contact information should be checked and updated each school year to ensure that you receive important school messengers through your email or phone calls from teachers and other school staff. To do this, log into the Parent Portal and click “More” at the bottom of the menu.
SCHOOL SUPPLIES
At the high school level, we do not publish school supply lists, as each course may require different materials. We recommend students bring basic supplies—such as paper and writing utensils—during the first week. Teachers will review specific supply needs when they go over their course syllabi in the first few days of school.
2025-26 STUDENT SCHEDULES
Student schedules were released on July 18. Our counselors are working hard to resolve the following issues and will be available on the first and second day of school in the Media Center if a student still has one of these issues to resolve:
Student already has credit for a class that is scheduled
Student does not have a required prerequisite for a class that is scheduled
Student needs a class to complete state graduation requirements
Student has a period with no class scheduled
Course is listed twice in a student's schedule
Schedule shows “See Counselor”
In order to keep class sizes equitable, we are unable to make changes to schedules due to elective preferences. Some students may see that they did not get their first choice of an elective. This could be due to several factors, including that the student has not completed the required prerequisite, the student requested an elective they are not eligible for because of their grade level, the elective is popular and a lottery system is used, etc. In these cases, an alternate elective is given. We also want to remind families that we are unable to make schedule changes for the following reasons, which include but are not limited to:
Preference of lunch periods
Preference of teacher
Preference of class periods
Preference of electives
Students should continue to check their schedules periodically, as we are still working from now until August 5th to balance class sizes and resolve reported schedule issues. Please note that the schedule that appeared in IC on July 18th may not be the final schedule or teacher. ALL students should check their schedule again the night of August 4th. If an issue still remains in the schedule on Tuesday, August 5th, please report to the media center during the specific period of the issue.
DUAL ENROLLMENT DEADLINE
If your student applied (and was accepted) to Dual Enrollment by the April deadline, please read below:
The Dual Enrollment “Intent to Participate” form that was signed by parents stipulated that ALL Dual Enrollment students must be registered for their college class(es) before the first day of school (August 5th). If any Dual Enrollment student has not contacted the college directly to register for their Dual Enrollment class(es), their class schedule will be defaulted back to Lambert High School in-person classes. Again, students should contact the college at which they enrolled to register for Dual Enrollment courses.
DID YOUR STUDENT TAKE A SUMMER COURSE?
Students who take Georgia Virtual School or any online, tuition-based courses have an option to have the course grade and credit posted to their transcript; however, if the course(s) is to be used to satisfy prerequisite and/or graduation requirements, the course must become part of the student’s official transcript. Note that once the decision is made to post the credit on the high school transcript, it cannot be removed.
The transcript course addition process differs by grade level.
Rising 9th and 10th graders can only 1.0 credit from FVA or GAVS to their transcript per semester. To add a summer course, complete the FCS Online Course Student-Parent Pay Credit Acceptance Form (transcript course addition form) in Infinite Campus Parent Portal under Student Information-->General-->Consent-->Self Pay. The form will be available June 17, and the deadline is August 22, 2025.
Rising 11th and 12th graders must fill out this paper form and this online form. Please note BOTH steps must be completed in order for your online grade to be added to your Lambert transcript. You do not need to complete these steps if you're taking an FVA class. If you are taking classes outside of FVA or GAVS, you need to create an account on Parchment.com and request the official transcript from that school to come to Lambert High School.
TRANSPORTATION - PLAN ACCORDINGLY
Bus Information
Your student's bus information, including pick-up and drop-off times, can be accessed in Parent Portal. Please be patient for the first few weeks of school as drivers solidify their routes. If you have questions about bus transportation, please contact our District Supervisor-- Ms. Pamela Gilbert (770-888-3170 ext. 140321).
Car Line
We try very hard to run a safe and efficient carline. However, due to volume, the line does back up and can take a while. Please give yourself PLENTY of time to ensure your student(s) arrives to first period class by the tardy bell. We typically see our highest traffic volume between 8:00 -8:25 A.M.
Students are allowed to be dropped off early and can occupy supervised spaces within the building until school begins.
Mandatory Car Line Rules:
- All vehicles must snake through the stadium lot and to the circle at the front of the school for drop-off and pick-up.
- Students must remain in cars until they reach the paved sidewalk leading up to the front of the school. There will be no drop-off in the middle of the line (even if your child is running late).
- Please pull forward as far as you can in the circle so the maximum number of cars will fit at one time. Follow the directives of the car rider attendants in crosswalks and at the front circle.
- There will be no student drop-off (or pick-up) in the gym lot.
- There will be no student drop-off in the gravel or stadium lots.
- There will be no student drop-off in the auditorium/bus lot.
Please see maps below to help navigate drop-off:
- If entering the line from Nichols Road via Old Atlanta Road – bypass the gym lot and proceed to the stadium entrance.
- If entering from Nichols Road from the Nichols Drive direction, turn left into the stadium entrance.
- Follow the road that parallels the gravel parking lot heading towards the stadium.
- Continue to follow traffic flow around the stadium lot to the front of the school for drop-off.
- Pull ALL THE WAY FORWARD to maximize drop off efficiency and keep the line moving.
- Once exiting the drop-off circle, you will reverse the same path back to Nichols Road to leave. campus.
MEDICATION RULES AND FORMS
As we begin the new school year, we kindly ask that parents and guardians notify the school clinic if your student has a chronic health condition that may require care or support during the school day. This includes conditions such as asthma, severe allergies, frequent headaches or migraines, gastrointestinal or genitourinary concerns, and more.
Please remember that, per the Forsyth County Schools Code of Conduct, students are not permitted to carry any medications — including prescription and over-the-counter medications — while at school. The only exceptions are life-saving emergency medications (such as inhalers, EpiPens, or diabetic supplies), and these must have the appropriate documentation on file in the clinic.
All health and medication forms can be found on the school nurse webpage, and medications must be brought to school by a parent or guardian — students may not transport medications themselves. If you have any questions, need help with forms, or want to discuss your student’s health needs, please don’t hesitate to contact Nurse Surio and Nurse G at LHSNurse@forsyth.k12.ga.us. Thank you for partnering with us to keep our students safe, healthy, and ready to succeed!
