Friday 5th June
A note from Mrs Fitzsimons
Good afternoon,
I actually can't believe we have just over 2 weeks to go. School is incredibly busy, lots of learning still going on but lots of fun as well.
Thank you all for embracing Sports Day and our first ever Colour Run last Friday. The Sponsor money is rolling in and we are so grateful for your generosity. We would love to know if you think it would be a good idea to make our Sponsored Colour Run an annual event for the next few years as opposed to a Sponsored Walk before the Fair. Please take the time to answer our Poll below.
Any outstanding sponsor money can be brought in on Monday, so we can let you know how much we have raised. All money raised from the Colour Run and the Fair will be going to new IT resources. We are looking at investing in Chromebooks for our older classes and would love to have enough for a whole class set. Our Computer Suite is too open and cannot hold a whole class, so we are hoping to perhaps spend the money on 30 Chromebooks with a keypad and mouse. These can be used in the classroom and are much more conducive to supporting ICT lessons. That is the dream! One chromebook costs between £150- £300.
Have a lovely weekend and we look forward to meeting up with you on Tuesday night,
Mrs F

Girls Hockey Team at Down High
Our girls team were lucky to be invited to Down High for their first primary school tournament on their new pitches.
We had a great run from the team — 2 wins and 2 draws! 💪
Unbeaten and proud of the effort in every match.
A special thank you to our P7s for their last hurrah before moving on — you’ve been amazing and will be missed! 💙👏
Also, a big shoutout to Down High School for having us — we really appreciate the hospitality! 🙌

P6 Shared Ed enjoy a day in Castlewellan
Primary 6 enjoyed their final shared education session with St Francis Primary School P6/7 at Castlewellan Forest Park, focusing on a ‘Take Notice’ theme as part of the ‘Take 5 Ways to Wellbeing’ we have been exploring this year. 🌿 Using viewfinders, the children focused on small details in nature that we often overlook, choosing a special view to sketch. From leaves and moss to tree branches and reflections, they took time to sit quietly, observe carefully and add detail, texture and colour to their work. We were very lucky to dodge the rain, allowing us to fully enjoy our time outdoors! ☁️🌤️ We also listened to the sounds around us, including birdsong, helping to build mindfulness and appreciation of the natural world. It was lovely to see everyone slow down, engage their senses and share their artwork – a great day of creativity and connection with nature. 🍃✏️
P3s Level up with St Francis
P3 had their final Shared Education session with St Francis PS last week. Our focus was on being active and we enjoyed an energetic session with Level Up Performance. It was a fantastic opportunity for pupils to work together, try new activities and build their fitness.
Spa Primary earn their 2nd Green Flag
We are delighted that we have been awarded our second green flag. Mrs Currie (P3) and 2 representatives from our Eco-Committee, Aleysha and Aria, went to Downpatrick today to receive their award. We want to thank Mrs Currie and the Eco-committee for all the hard work they have put in earning Eco points to gain the flag. This accolade takes a lot of hard work and dedication.
