Wildcat Weekly- 5/25-5/29

Message from Principal Martinez ๐พ
Dear Wildcat Families:
As we approach Memorial Day weekend, we pause together to honor and remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country. Their courage, selflessness, and dedication remind us of the freedoms and opportunities we are privileged to enjoy each day.
Memorial Day also offers us a meaningful opportunity to reflect on the values of service, gratitude, and community. As a school community, we are grateful for the many individuals and families whose sacrifices have shaped and protected our nation.
As we head into this long weekend, I hope you are able to spend meaningful time with loved ones, enjoy moments of rest, and reflect on the importance of remembrance and appreciation.
Thank you for your continued partnership and support of our school community. We look forward to welcoming everyone back refreshed and ready for the exciting end-of-year activities ahead.
Wishing you a safe and peaceful Memorial Day weekend.
Art Dress-Up Day โ Tuesday, May 26 ๐จ
Get ready for one of Pomeradoโs favorite creative traditions! Students are invited to dress up as their favorite artist or artwork for our annual Art Dress-Up Day on Tuesday, May 26.
Parents will be allowed on campus after the final bell at 8:45 AM. Art Runway Show will beging following morning announcements and flag salute at 9:00 AM, classes will head out to the blacktop for our exciting โRed Carpet Runwayโ parade! Students will have the chance to show off their amazing costumes and creativity as they walk the runway one at a time while classmates cheer them on from both sides.
Families are welcome to come watch the fun and may stand behind the classes during the event. The runway celebration is expected to last approximately 30โ45 minutes.
Students who dress up will also receive a card to fill out with their name, teacher, and the artist they are representing for our judges and prize categories. We canโt wait to celebrate the imagination, creativity, and artistic spirit of our talented Wildcats!
Highlights from this week...
Congratulations to two of our talented Pomerado students from Ms. Murphyโs class for being selected as winners in this yearโs Water Conservation Poster Art Contest! Ava Rae earned 2nd place and Quinn earned 3rd place in the competition, which included 4th grade students from school districts across San Diego County โ an incredible accomplishment!
Their outstanding artwork will be featured in the 2027 NCWA Water Awareness Calendar and will advance to the regional competition alongside other winning entries from local water agencies for a chance to be selected as the calendar cover artwork.
The students were also recognized at the May 19th City Council meeting, where they received their awards and had the opportunity to take a photo with the mayor. We are so proud of Ava Rae and Quinn for their creativity, hard work, and commitment to promoting water conservation. Way to represent Pomerado!
Senior Alumni Clap Out ๐
Calling all Pomerado alumni graduating with the Class of 2026! Come take one final walk through the halls while our students and staff cheer you on. We canโt wait to celebrate you and all youโve accomplished! ๐๐
