My Challenge to You My Challenge to You

The end of the fall semester is fast approaching. It is easy to want to fall into the mode of showing a video as a time filler but is that really the best use of your time and student learning? I challenge you to read the article below from John Spencer and use one or more of the ideas that he shares in his article for alternatives for videos at the end of the semester.

Here are the different areas he details in the article:

#1: Genius Hour

#2: Scratch Video Game Projects

#3: Design Thinking Project

#4a: Thematic Blogs (High-Tech)

#4b: Video Writing Prompts (Low-Tech Alternative)

#5: Sketchnote Videos

#6: Maker Projects

#7: Wonder Day / Wonder Week

#8: Hands-On Simulations

#9: Podcasts

#10: History Mystery

I am always challenging you to think outside of the traditional box and create engaging, interesting, and energizing activities for your students. The ends of the semester are a great opportunity to try something new and see how it goes. Chances are, it will go well, you will have fun and so will your students. If it fails, it fails... it is a learning opportunity either way.

I can guarantee you this if you try something new your kids will enjoy it and get way more out of it and want to come back to your class in the spring.

Think. Achieve. Succeed.

AMCMS SPED Tip of the Week

HELP!

If you are unsure of what you need to be doing with your final to meet the needs of your special education students OR if you need help putting your finals into Kurzweil, worry not! We have a help session for you!

Final Reviews:

As you are reviewing for finals with your students, make sure that students are receiving a review that is comparable to the final that they will be taking. If a student takes a modified or accommodated test, their review should also be modified or accommodated.
