🌰 PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE 🌰 PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

Dear MGES Families,

We would like to thank the MG families who attending our MLK Day of Service this past Monday. Our volunteers put together over 300+ socks rolls, which were donated to The Giving Tree. Thank you to all who donated, volunteered, and supported our PTO in this event.

If you are looking for optional activities for students during the district’s three traditional snow days, we encourage your child to log in to the school’s Clever account. Through Clever, students can access i-Ready My Path, First in Math, and Learning A–Z (grades K–2). Participation in these activities is not mandatory; however, they are available if parents are looking for something educational once the sledding and snowman-making winds down.

As a reminder, the district’s instructional calendar includes three inclement weather days designated as traditional snow days. A Flexible Instruction Day (FID) will only be implemented if school closures extend beyond the inclement weather days built into the calendar.

Please feel free to reach out with any questions. Stay warm and enjoy the snow!

Best regards,
Mr. Perez

First Grade Author Celebration

Ms. Higgins and Mrs. Winters first grade classes celebrated the end of their reading unit on beloved author and illustrator Mo Willems. Students have been reading these hilarious books, writing in speech-bubble style and learning about friendship. Our classes got together this afternoon to buddy read, share ice cream, and laugh!

To help keep our students and staff healthy during this peak time for seasonal illnesses, we follow guidance from the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) on when children should stay home from school due to illness.

Please keep your child home if they have any of the following:

Fever of 100.4°F (38°C) or higher. Children should be fever-free for at least 24 hours without fever-reducing medication before returning to school.

Vomiting or diarrhea. Children should stay home until they have been free of vomiting and diarrhea for at least 24 hours.

Severe cough, difficulty breathing, or wheezing that interferes with participation in school activities.

Signs of a contagious illness such as strep throat, influenza, COVID-19, RSV, chickenpox, or other illnesses as advised by your healthcare provider.

Eye redness with thick drainage (possible conjunctivitis) until evaluated and cleared to return.
Undiagnosed rash with fever or behavior changes.

Extreme fatigue, pain, or irritability that prevents your child from participating in normal school activities.

Children may return to school when symptoms have improved, they feel well enough to participate, and any required treatment or exclusion period has been completed. If you are unsure whether your child should stay home, please consult your child’s healthcare provider or contact me.
