Principal's Message

Sunny Heights Families,

This week we hosted our Family Literacy Night and IREAD3 Information Presentation with families of 3rd grade students. The wintry weather kept many from being able to attend, but we were able to have some fun and share literature resources with our families. Parent of 3rd grade students will be receiving additional information, resources, and materials concerning the spring IREAD3 test. Contact your child's teacher with any specific questions concerning IREAD3.

Students and teachers continued to work hard this week their current math and reading content as well as receiving areas of additional support. Grade level teams have been meeting with our admin team to discuss student data and make action plans to address areas of needed growth. We are all excited about the growth our students are showing and are continually challenging them to push their learning further each day.

A reminder that school is closed on Monday, February 17th in honor of President's Day. Have a great 3-day weekend!

PTA Candy grams

Congratulations to Sandra Rodriguez for winning the Valentine bouquet! Sandra helped spread good cheer to many by purchasing the most candy grams from the PTA. Thanks to all that purchased grams, it was a joyful time! Happy Valentine's Day to all!

Marion County Health Department

On Tuesday, March 18th, the Marion County Health department will have representatives here to conduct Hearing & Vision screenings. The hearing screening will be for 1st and 4th graders and the vision screening will be for 1st and 3rd grade students.

PENNIES FOR PATIENTS FUNDRAISER

The total for all monies that have been collected is $1,024.00! We have surpassed our goal of $750.00! Thank you to EVERYONE who participated in this very worthwhile fundraiser and to Mrs. Dorsey for spearheading this event!

WINTER OUTDOOR RECESS

It is that time of the year when we need to make sure our children have appropriate clothing for recess. We will be going outside for recess if the temperature and the wind chill are above 20 degrees.
