Message from Mrs. Schneid

We hope everyone enjoyed their long weekend !

This week, our students signed our Stay in the Game Attendance Banner, pledging to be at school, on time, and ready to learn each day they are healthy. At BPE, we are working hard to decrease chronic absenteeism because every day—and every minute—of learning matters.

We have noticed that many students are arriving late to school or leaving early. While a few minutes here and there may not seem significant, those minutes add up quickly. When missed instructional time reaches 10% of the school year, a student may be identified as chronically absent.

A reminder that our first bell rings at 8:50 a.m., and the tardy bell rings at 9:00 a.m. We want every student in the building, settled, and ready to begin learning as the school day gets underway.

If you or your child need assistance with getting to school on time, please reach out to us. We are here to help!

Our goal is not simply to track attendance, but to partner with families to identify barriers and help establish successful routines that support students.

In the coming weeks, we will begin scheduling reflection meetings with families whose students are currently in the chronically absent category. These meetings will give us an opportunity to work together, celebrate progress, identify any barriers, and create a plan to help students be present and engaged in school.

We truly enjoy having your children here each day and want to do everything we can to support their success.

At BPE, we are Reaching for the Stars—and we need all of our students here and ready to shine! ⭐🚀

Thank you for your partnership and commitment to making attendance a priority!

Thank you to all our parents/guardians that attended Parent Information Night last week

We had a small challenge to see which classroom per grade level would have the Highest Parent Attendance during Parent Information NIght. Look at our Winners!

Attendance Matters Attendance Matters

Attendance Data

BPE Families and Students are making great gains! Last week 4th grade had the highest attendance precentage with a week's average of 96.74%! Today, Thursday Sept. 10- 1st grade had 99.46% and 4th grade had 99.24%! This is great!

Each classroom also got their Mr. Potato Head for their classroom! Each time their classroom has 100% (comingin late or leaving early will count), they get to add a piece to their Potato Head. Once they are all filled up (13 parts) the class is rewarded and a special surprise visit will take place too. Ask your child what their class named their Potatoe Head? If they fill him up 1x, they get to take him apart and try again....Which class will have the most wins?

Student Fees will be added October 1 Student Fees will be added October 1

School Fees will be added to student accounts on October 1, 2026. Payments may be made in person at BPE using Cash or Check , or through Infinite Campus. Instructions are provided below.

Families are asked and encouraged to complete the Income Eligibility Verification Form to access additional benefits, including increased state and federal funding for staff, equipment, and supplies; discounts on fees for academic assessments; and access to local scholarships, tuition assistance for dual credit and AP courses, and discounts on college application fees. By completing the application, you help the district continue to provide valuable resources and opportunities for every student.

Online payment is our preferred method for parents and guardians to pay for school fees, cafeteria payments, and more.

The Infinite Campus Online Payment system is a payment processing solution that allows you to submit food service and school-related fees 24/7 via the Parent Portal. Payments can be made for one child or the entire household.

The Fees tool provides a list of all fees assigned to you. Fees may include things like a lab fee for a science course, a fee for a field trip or the cost of an athletic activity. Fees that are still owed and fees that were paid appear in this list, followed by the ongoing balance for all fees.

View the Fee Payment tutorial

If you are unable to use the online payment system, please contact the

treasurer's office at (216) 898-8300.

Compass360 PBIS SEL Lessons for K-8

For the 2026-2027 school year, our K-8 classrooms will continue to implement Compass360 lessons as a part of our District's Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) framework. These weekly lessons are specifically designed to nurture our students' emotional growth and interpersonal abilities.

Compass360 directly aligns with the five core competencies identified by the Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning (CASEL):

  • Self-Awareness: Students will learn to recognize their emotions and thoughts, understanding how these internal states influence their behavior.

  • Self-Management: We'll equip students with practical tools to manage stress, control impulses, and effectively set and achieve personal goals.

  • Social Awareness: Lessons will cultivate empathy, encouraging students to understand and appreciate diverse perspectives and backgrounds within their community and beyond.

  • Relationship Skills: Students will develop essential communication strategies, learn to work effectively in teams, and gain valuable conflict resolution techniques.

  • Responsible Decision-Making: We'll guide students through processes that help them make constructive and ethical choices regarding their personal and social conduct.

Through engaging activities, thoughtful discussions, and regular reflection, Compass360 lessons create a supportive and positive environment where students can grow, both academically and emotionally.

If you have any questions or would like to learn more about the Compass360 lessons, please don't hesitate to reach out to:

Welcome back and I hope everyone had a great summer. We wanted to take some time to cover some of the expectations for our students in Physical Education class. As the seasons change we see many different types of footwear.

Here is a list of foot attire that will not be considered safe to participate in PE this year:

  • Moon boots
  • Crocs
  • Flip Flops
  • Sandals
  • Shoes with heels

We are hoping students will wear athletic shoes with shoe laces or velcro straps. We encourage you to take some time to know which color day your child has PE class this year so you can help them have the proper clothing for class. Items like dresses, skirts (please wear shorts under them), and jeans make it very difficult to participate in class.

We are excited about the school year and over the next month we plan to learn and incorporate all the routines, procedures, and warm-up activities. In the weeks to come we will be reviewing and introducing equipment such as hula hoops, scooters, and gator skin balls which will be used throughout the year. Our third and fourth graders will be taking their pre fitness test in the first week of September. Second grade will be introduced to the routine of the fitness testing

Thanks again for your support and let’s have a great year.

Welcome back!!!!
