Principally speaking
This week we hosted our curriculum night; it was wonderful to welcome parents into the classrooms for Curriculum Night. It was an opportunity to learn about grade-level standards and expectations as well as get to know your child’s teacher. It was wonderful to see so many parents, and I really enjoyed spending time with kids in the LRC playing games, reading, and finishing the puzzle. We also had opportunities for parents to sign up for the Fox Squad and Room Parents. If you missed the sign-ups, we have information below and links embedded to sign up digitally. We will draw for the lead room parents after the sign-up closes Monday, September 15, at 3:00.
This edition of our newsletter includes many opportunities for Fox Ridge Foxes to join clubs. These are wonderful opportunities for our kids to connect and extend their learning and relationships with one another and our staff. Take a look at the various clubs and information.
Below I have included a letter regarding our upcoming SEL survey for our students in grades 3-5.

District Support for Families
In D303, we value the opportunity to provide a community of care and support to our families, particularly those facing financial hardship. If your family is currently experiencing a significant financial need, our community partnerships offer several supports for families, including school clothes/shoes, winter coats/accessories, school supplies, toiletries, holiday meals, and/or holiday gifts. If you would like to be considered for any of these supports, please complete the Family Resource Form by September 12, 2025.
A huge thank you to our amazing PTO for their generous donation of new PE equipment—gator skin balls, yarn balls, and bowling pins! Our students were thrilled to use the new equipment during an exciting game of Castleball, and it brought so much extra fun and energy to class.
Reminder: Don’t forget to wear your closed-toed athletic shoes to PE. They help keep you safe and ready to run, jump, and play your best!
Thanks for helping keep PE safe, fun, and full of movement, Foxes!

New District 303 attendance procedures-removal of prearranged absences
District 303 attendance procedures were updated and approved at the June 9, 2025, Board Meeting. All district procedures are available in the CUSD 303 Student Handbook found in the Parent/Community tab in the Information column of the districtd303.org website.
Updates to the attendance procedures were made to bring consistency across all schools within the district and to clarify student attendance expectations. One example of an update is the removal of the pre-arranged absence procedure. This aligns with the definitions of excused and unexcused absences found in Section 2.2.
Families are encouraged to review the CUSD 303 Student Handbook to familiarize themselves with the districtwide procedures.
Here is a link that takes you to the section of the handbook that is dedicated to attendance. In addition, the district created magnets for all to support keeping track of absences. These were sent home with students yesterday or today.

We need your help on arrival and dismissal
We need your help! For everyone’s safety, please only use the crosswalk when walking to and from school during pick-up and drop-off times. Many parents have been walking across in the middle of the car line, which is very dangerous. Using the crosswalk helps keep all of our students, families, and staff safe. Thank you for modeling safe practices for our children!
-
Drop-off line use: If you are driving and feel comfortable, please use the drop-off line instead of parking and walking your child in.
-
Staying in your car: If you are in our drop-off or pick-up loop, please remain in your car. If you are waiting due to arriving at 3:20 or earlier for pickup, kindly turn off your engine—idling for five minutes or more creates unnecessary pollution.
-
Crosswalk safety: If you choose to park and walk your child, please use the crosswalk. This helps with traffic flow and keeps everyone safe.
-
Back meeting location: If your child is expected to meet you in the back because you’ve parked on the side street, please make sure they know this plan. Some confusion has occurred when students say they are car riders, as we then guide them to the front of the building.
Thank you for helping us make arrival and dismissal safe and smooth for everyone!
