Summer 2026

Welcome to summer! ☀️🏖️

Dear ITMMS Families,

First and foremost, congratulations on the completion of another fantastic school year! You and your children deserve major praise for your perseverance, hard work, and dedication. Whether it was in the classroom, on the athletic fields, through the arts, or in supporting one another’s social-emotional growth, our kids have truly shone this year. We could not be prouder of our Island Trees community.

As we transition into these sunny months, we want to encourage you to visit this newsletter often. Our wonderful teachers have curated an amazing collection of tools and activities designed to keep our students connected, sharp, and perfectly prepared to hit the ground running this September.

🎒 What You’ll Find Here

We’ve loaded the page with resources to help support a fun, relaxing, and memorable summer, including:

  • Fall Supply Lists: Get a head start on organizing for the upcoming school year.

  • Summer Reading Ideas: Great book recommendations to spark imagination and keep those reading muscles strong.

  • Extra Credit Opportunities: Fun ways for students to boost their brains (and their grades!) before September.

  • The IXL "Study in the Sun" Contest: A fantastic, rewarding way to keep math and language arts skills sizzling hot.

  • ...and so many more resources tailored just for our students!

🌊 Balance is Everything!

While we hope you’ll dive into these resources throughout the summer, please remember that your health and wellness are what matter most. Make sure to balance the brainpower with plenty of downtime. We truly encourage everyone to step back, rest, relax, and simply enjoy the company of one another. We hope you find the time to play in the sand, visit with cherished family and friends, get outside and exercise, and catch up on those much-needed family movie nights. Carving out this special time for yourselves and your children is so incredibly important.

On behalf of our entire faculty and staff, we wish you all a safe, joyful, and wonderful summer vacation! We can't wait to see you in September.

Sincerely,

Mr. Keegan & Ms. Steele

Parents need to know that Duolingo is a game-based language-learning website. Kids have to register to use the site, and they can use Google, Facebook or an email address to do so. They can also friend other users by clicking on any posts they've made to the site forum to access their profile. Users sometimes also post requests for other users to friend them. Common Sense Media Common Sense Media

As a father with teenage children and a middle level educator, it is important that I use the resources available to me to find age appropriate and meaningful experiences, books, apps, and tech tools that support growth. One website that I refer to often is Common Sense Media. As you may be interested in books, apps, movies, and games during the summer, you may find the reviews and ranking helpful.

The Mission of Common Sense Media:

Common Sense is the leading independent nonprofit organization dedicated to helping kids thrive in a world of media and technology. We empower parents, teachers, and policymakers by providing unbiased information, trusted advice, and innovative tools to help them harness the power of media and technology as a positive force in all kids’ lives.

Common Sense Media helps families make smart media choices. We offer the largest, most trusted library of independent age-based and educational ratings and reviews for movies, games, apps, TV shows, websites, books, and music. Our Parent Concerns and Parent Blog help families understand and navigate the problems and possibilities of raising children in the digital age.
