Thank you to those of you who have already dropped off items for our food pantry! We are still accepting non-perishable food items such as canned fruit, canned soup, cooking oil, and breakfast cereal. Please drop off donations in the bin found in the front lobby of the Broadway building before Tuesday, November 18th. Additionally, you can order from our Amazon wish list, and items will be delivered directly to the school!

All collected items will be available to Citizens families at the November pop-up pantry on November 20th. Contact Jessie Cox with any questions!

We are excited to announce that this year all kindergarten through 5th grade classes will have class photos taken! Next Tuesday, November 18th, these students do not need to be in uniform but can instead wear something to highlight their personal style!

In addition, individual photos can be retaken at this time. Any kindergarten through 8th grade students who were absent on the day of photos or just want to have their photo retaken are able to do so on this day and do not need to be in uniform. Please reach out to Ms. Jamesetta with any questions!

Do you have additional children in your household whom you would like to be at Citizens next year? Whether they are an incoming PreK or kindergarten student or at another school right now, they are now eligible to apply for the 2026-2027 school year!

This application period also applies to any neighbors or friends who would like to join our school family, so please help us spread the word!

How: Visit SchoolAppKC, answer a few questions, choose Citizens, and submit!

When: To be included in the lottery, apply before March 1st

Who: Next year’s PreK (must be 3 or 4 years old by 7/31/26) or kindergarteners (must be 5 years old by 7/31/26), any other students up to 8th grade who will be new students at Citizens

Current students should not re-enroll using SchoolAppKC. ReEnrollment for current PreK-7th grade students will begin February 1st through your Parent Portal, so stay tuned for additional details after winter break!

As we prepare for the winter and possible inclement weather closings, please make sure that you are signed up to receive all emails, texts, and phone calls. You can check these settings by following these instructions:

1. Log into your Parent Portal. (Reach out to Ms. Kidd for help logging in.)
2. Click on the icon of the person in the top right.
3. Click on "Settings".
4. Click on "Contact Preferences".
5. Check to make sure your phone number and email address are accurate.
6. Under the "Phone" tab, make sure you have all voice and text boxes checked.
7. Under the "Email" tab, make sure all boxes are checked.

Reminder: You can now submit student absences through your Parent Portal!
