Dismissal Changes

In the event of an emergency and the need to change a student's dismissal method be sure to send an email to the classroom teacher AND the attendance email (Dres_attendance@dublinschools.net). Teachers are extremely busy during the school day, therefore, it is not guaranteed that the teacher would have time to review the parent email prior to dismissal. Be sure to submit changes as early as possible to increase the likelihood that the communication will be received by our school team prior to dismissal.

Student Car Drop Off and Pick Up

As a reminder, car drop off and pick up for all students should take place at the back door of the school. Last school year, students were being dropped off at Grizzell, in the school parking lot, and in the neighborhood adjacent to the school. We want to ensure that all of our students are safely dropped off at school, therefore only the backdoor area should be used. Also, we also want to be considerate of our neighbors that live in the homes adjacent to the school. Therefore, adhering to this guidelines is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Team Tressel Fitness Challenge

Deer Run Elementary School is proud to participate in the Team Tressel Fitness Challenge, a statewide initiative led by Ohio Lt. Governor Jim Tressel and the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce. This 90-day challenge is designed to help 4th and 5th-grade students build lifelong healthy habits in three important areas:

  • Physical Activity

  • Nutrition

  • Sleep

How it works:

  • The challenge begins in September and runs through December. It is designed to be completed outside of school hours.

  • Each student will receive a Team Tressel Challenge Fitness Workbook to guide them through the program, which includes three levels: Bronze, Silver, and Gold.

  • At each level, students will set personal goals and track their progress in the core wellness areas.

  • Ms. Heslop will check in periodically with students to support their goals and celebrate their accomplishments. Parents will need to sign a form stating their child completed the home activities in the challenge.

  • Upon completion and parent signature, every participant will receive a certificate signed by Governor Mike DeWine and Lt. Governor Jim Tressel.

Mrs. Helsop will distribute the Team Tressel Challenge Fitness Workbooks during physical education classes throughout the week and will explain the challenge to students.

Let’s work together to help our students grow healthier, stronger, and more confident in themselves.

Thank you!

Mrs. Haselberger Introduction

Hello Deer Run Families,

My name is Becky Haselberger, and I am excited to serve as the Mental Health Specialist at Deer Run this year! This is a brand-new position across all DCS elementary schools, introduced by the district last school year.

I am a licensed social worker with a Master’s in Social Work from The Ohio State University. In this role, I will be teaching one classroom lesson per month as well as supporting students and families with specific needs throughout the year.

Before becoming a social worker, I worked as an Intervention Specialist for 17 years and hold a K–12 teaching license. Most recently, I served students at Emerald Campus and Abraham Depp Elementary. My background in both teaching and social work allows me to partner with families, staff, and students to help children grow into their best selves.

Outside of school, I am married with two daughters—one in 6th grade and one in 9th grade. I love being active outdoors, reading, and spending time with my family and friends.

I’m thrilled to join the Deer Run community and look forward to building strong relationships with your children and families.

Here’s a photo of my family and me at Yellowstone this past summer!

Warmly,
Becky Haselberger
