5th Grade Party & Field Trip Fees

Dear 5th Grade Parents,

As we approach the end of the school year, our 5th graders have some exciting celebrations coming up to recognize all of their hard work, including our end-of-year party and a special field trip celebration at Pinstack. These events are a meaningful way for students to celebrate their elementary journey together.

In order for all students to fully participate in these experiences, it’s important that party fees are paid. These contributions directly support the activities, and without enough participation, there is a possibility that some parts of these celebrations may be limited.

Please take a moment to review the message below from our PTA and submit your payment as soon as possible if you have not already done so.

If you have not paid, please do so ASAP.

Pay for Class Parties here: Smith PTA Shop

Click on your child's grade level and fill out the information. This money goes directly to the parties. We only have one party left this year and 100% of the money goes into making the end of the year party so much fun for the kids. The PTAis already planning for inflatables, games, snow cones and popcorn for the students to enjoy. We can't make it happen without the funds. Only about 50% of the students' party fees have been paid. Every contribution really helps make the parties special for our kids.

The End of Year Party is May 22nd. More information regarding volunteering and class times to follow.

If you aren't sure if you have paid your child's fees please email Hilary Grant- president@smithpta.net

A Friendly Reminder About Growing Up

As our 5th graders continue to grow, many are beginning to experience the normal changes that come with this stage, including developing body odor. To help students feel comfortable and confident throughout the school day, we encourage families to remind their children about the importance of good hygiene habits such as daily showers, using deodorant, and wearing clean clothes.

While I do not have deodorant to send home, I do keep a couple of inexpensive roll-on options at school that a student may use if needed.

Thank you for supporting your child as they learn to take on these new responsibilities!

Important Change for 2025: To minimize security risks, classroom interruptions and ensure a smooth school day, all water bottles, snacks, and home-packed lunches must be dropped off no later than 10:15 AM. This year, all K–5 students will go to recess before lunch rather than after. Late lunch deliveries cause students to miss valuable eating time since they now arrive in the cafeteria immediately after recess. For this reason, if a restaurant lunch is not delivered at the start of your child’s lunch period, your child will be instructed to purchase a school lunch from the cafeteria so they can eat with their class and have their full lunch period.

Water Bottles, Snacks, & Home Packed Lunches:

  • Must be dropped off on the outside cart by 10:15 AM
  • Permanently label lunches with name, grade level, and teacher name before dropping off
  • Place lunch on area with grade level of your student

Restaurant Lunches:

  • Show a valid ID and check in at the front office to obtain a visitor badge.

  • Personally deliver the store-bought lunch to their child in the cafeteria.

Timing Matters:

  • All K-5 students now go to recess BEFORE lunch
  • Late deliveries mean less time to eat
  • If lunch isn't delivered at the START of lunch, your child will be asked to get a school lunch

We appreciate your cooperation in helping us keep the lunch process organized and ensuring every child has enough time to eat and be ready for afternoon learning.
