September Weekly Update
Week of Monday, September 08 - Friday, September 12, 2025
🛑 Early Release Monday September 15 @1:30pm
What's Happening This Week:🌟 Student of the Month Recognition 🌟
This month we are excited to begin our Student of the Month program! Each teacher will select one student every month who shows outstanding qualities in Respect, Integrity, Safety, and Encouragement.
This is a great way to celebrate our students who are making a positive difference in our school community. We look forward to highlighting their hard work and achievements each month!
The Certificate That Highlights Student Success
Students who are chosen will receive this certificate to take home and share with their families. The following month, their certificate will also be displayed in our school hallway for all staff and students to see and celebrate.
Leading the Way: Mr. Uridil
Hi Falcon Families,
This is my 11th year at Shaw Heights and my 5th as principal. Most mornings you’ll find me at the crosswalk, waving cars through and making sure our kids start the day safely. Safety is always our top priority, right alongside building a culture where students can focus, learn, and thrive.
Inside the building, the learning has been amazing to watch. Our staff works hard to support your children, and one big shift this year, no phones in classrooms, is already helping kids focus, form new habits, and enjoy being “just kids” again.
When I’m not at school, you’ll probably find me making homemade dill pickles (a recipe my grandmother passed down), riding bikes with my family, walking our dog Winnie, or sneaking in a round of golf. As a dad of two girls, Frannie (5) and Evie (9), I get how much hustle it takes to get kids to school each day, thank you for making it a priority.
So next time you drive by, give me a honk, wave, or stop to say hi. We’re in this together, and I can’t wait to see what this year brings!
In partnership,
Mr. Uridil

Get ready… Spirit Week kicks off next week!
“Leaf Through a Good Book”
“The library is officially open and ready! Each week, a different department will receive a cart full of books — for example, Social Studies might have them this week, then English next week, and so on. This is a wonderful way to encourage a love for reading, spark curiosity, and give students the chance to explore new stories all year long!”

Event Information
We are excited to share that all of our 8th grade students will have the opportunity to attend a Career Expo Field Trip! This special experience will allow students to explore a variety of career paths, meet professionals from different industries, and begin thinking about their future goals. The expo is designed to inspire students, spark curiosity, and help them see the many possibilities that await them after middle school.

2. ASK YOUR CHILD ABOUT ❓
Take a moment to ask your child about their day! Here are some examples to get the conversation started:
-
What was the best part of your day?
-
Did you learn something new that surprised you?
-
Who did you sit with at lunch today?
-
Was there anything that made you laugh?
-
What’s one thing you’re proud of from today?
Simple questions like these help students open up and share more about their school experiences.
