Budget Update
The School Board has voted to postpone the budget adoption vote from March 26 to Wednesday, April 9, as they are still awaiting our health insurance rates for FY 26. Given that rate changes—such as those experienced last year—can significantly impact the budget, the board determined that postponing the vote was the best course of action to allow for any necessary adjustments.
Despite the delay, the School Board plans to present the board-approved budget to the Town Council on April 10.
For more information on the budget, please visit the Brunswick School Department Website: Budget Information.

HBS Walk/Bike To School
Wednesday, April 2nd, HBS will be holding their first Spring Walk/Bike To School Event. We ask for awareness of the extra students walking and biking to and from school on this day. Buses will be dropping students off on Columbia Avenue near the walking path near Crimmins Field so all students can participate. Please allow extra time for delays if you travel through McKeen Street and near the schools. We appreciate your patience and cooperation in keeping our students safe.
Superintendent Parent Advisory Meeting
Brunswick School Department parents/guardians are invited to attend the next Brunswick Believes - Superintendent Parent Advisory Group Meeting on Monday, March 31 from 6:00-7:00pm. The meeting will be held in the cafeteria at Kate Furbish Elementary School.
Light snacks, interpreters, and childcare will be provided.
We hope to see you there!
Transportation Department: Driver Shortage Update
We are currently experiencing a critical driver shortage in our Transportation Department. Several bus drivers are temporarily unavailable due to various circumstances, which has necessitated the merging of bus routes on a daily basis. While we are making every effort to avoid cancellations, we cannot guarantee that all field trips and routes will proceed as originally planned if we continue to experience driver shortages. We appreciate your understanding and support during this challenging time.
Current Challenges
Reduced driver availability
Consolidated bus routes
Potential risk of field trip and sports trip cancellations
Our Commitment
We are taking proactive steps to minimize disruptions:
Utilizing BusRight routing software to optimize transportation
Actively recruiting new bus drivers
Working diligently to maintain safe student transportation
