CHICHESTER CENTRAL CONNECTION
March & April News from Chichester Central School
FROM THE PRINCIPAL'S DESK
Dear CCS Families,
As we moved through March and April and into the final stretch of the school year, I want to take a moment to thank you for your continued support and partnership. This time of year is always busy, filled with important academic work, engaging events, and many opportunities for our students to shine.
Our students have been working hard in the classroom, and we are proud of the growth we continue to see. State assessments and spring benchmarking provide us with valuable information to support each learner, and we appreciate your help in ensuring students are present, well-rested, and ready to do their best.
Beyond academics, it has been wonderful to see our school community come together through events like Wellness Week, field trips, student performances, and service projects. These experiences help build confident, capable, and compassionate learners while strengthening the connections that make CCS such a special place.
As we enter the final six weeks of school, we encourage all students to stay focused, continue putting forth their best effort, and take pride in their accomplishments. There are still many exciting events ahead, and we look forward to celebrating our students’ hard work and successes together.
Thank you for being an important part of our CCS community.
Warm regards,
Tanya Teeboom
Principal
SCHOOL EVENTS & HIGHLIGHTS
During the last two School Board meetings, students and staff had the opportunity to showcase some of the great work happening at CCS. Members of the Newspaper Club, led by Mrs. Guest and Ms. Green, shared how participating in the club keeps them engaged and allows them to use their talents in meaningful ways. Representatives from the Drama Club, along with Mrs. Raymond and Ms. Mara, spoke about how drama builds confidence, fosters new friendships, and gives students a chance to do what they love. Additionally, our Grade 4–5 Girl Scout troop presented on their work and shared a proposal to create a bird-watching station that would support our Environmental Club and enhance learning opportunities for our school community.
Our Drama Club students have been hard at work preparing for their upcoming production of Matilda the Musical! Students have been dedicating time and effort to rehearsals, building confidence, and working together to bring this exciting performance to life. We look forward to seeing their hard work on stage and hope you can join us for the show!
CCS recently held its Fall/Winter Athletic Awards, celebrating our student-athletes and their accomplishments. Thank you to Athletic Director Mr. Cipriano and our basketball and cross country coaches for their dedication and support. It was a great evening recognizing teamwork, perseverance, and sportsmanship.
CCS students and staff enjoyed a fun Spirit Day with Hat Day in celebration of Assistant Principal Week! This special day was a great way to recognize Mrs. Brannock and all the many “hats” she wears in supporting our students, staff, and school community.
Our Grade 4 students recently took a field trip to the New Hampshire State House and the New Hampshire Historical Society. This hands-on experience brought their learning to life as they explored our state’s history and government, helping them make meaningful connections beyond the classroom.
Our Grade 5 students recently visited Delta Dental Stadium to cheer on the New Hampshire Fisher Cats as part of the kickoff to their final Wit & Wisdom module focused on breaking barriers in sports. It was a fun and engaging way to connect their learning to real-world experiences and celebrate the start of their final unit!
Our Grade 1 students took action this Earth Day by helping clean up our school grounds! They showed great teamwork and care for their environment as they worked together to make CCS a cleaner, more beautiful place. We’re proud of their efforts and the responsibility they demonstrated in taking care of our school community!
Mrs. JZ’s class celebrated Earth Day with hands-on learning and creativity! After helping clean up the playground by collecting sticks and logs, students brought their reading to life by heading into the woods to build shelters, just like the characters in the books they’ve been exploring.
CURRICULUM & ASSESSMENT
Spring Assessments at CCS
As we move into the spring months, students in grades K–8 will be participating in a variety of assessments that help us understand their progress and guide instruction. These include mClass/DIBELS, Aimsweb, iReady, and the New Hampshire Statewide Assessment System (SAS).
SAS testing for students in grades 3–8 will take place during the weeks of May 4, May 11, and May 18, with specific sessions for math, reading, writing, and science. In general, Grade 3–5 students will test in the mornings, while Grades 6–8 will have slightly longer testing blocks mid-morning. Make-up sessions will be scheduled as needed.
In addition, students in grades K–8 will complete mClass/DIBELS and Aimsweb benchmark assessments, and all students will participate in end-of-year iReady assessments in late May and early June.
How families can help:
- Ensure your child gets a good night’s sleep
- Encourage a healthy breakfast
- Help your child arrive at school on time
- Offer encouragement and a positive mindset
These assessments are just one measure of student learning, and we are proud of the growth our students continue to make. Thank you for your support in helping them do their best!
SCHOOL IMPROVEMENT WORK
This year, we’ve made several facility improvements to enhance our school environment for students and staff. We’re excited to share that the playground swings are back up and running after important repairs and upgrades. Rusty and loose hardware was removed and replaced with all new hardware, and tack welds were added by NH Mobile Welding to provide extra stability. Mr. Demers also installed new mounting hardware and chains, replaced a few damaged swings, and reinstalled those that were still in good condition.
In addition, we have continued to address building and grounds needs, including ongoing maintenance, safety updates, and improvements to learning spaces throughout the school. These efforts reflect our commitment to providing a safe, welcoming, and well-maintained environment for all members of our CCS community.

SCHOOL CULTURE & STUDENT EXPERIENCE
Volunteer Appreciation Brunch
We were proud to host our Volunteer Appreciation Brunch to celebrate the many individuals who give their time and support to our school community. It was a special morning filled with student performances, thoughtful gestures, and a chance to say thank you for all that our volunteers do. We are truly grateful for the partnerships that help make CCS such a strong and connected community.
Grade 8 Service Project
Our Grade 8 students demonstrated outstanding leadership and community spirit through their recent service project. They volunteered at the Friendly Kitchen, helping to clean and support the space, and then organized a school-wide food drive to give back even more. Thanks to the efforts of our entire school community, a large amount of food and canned goods was collected. Congratulations to our Grade 6 students, who brought in the most donations and earned a well-deserved pizza party and some fun with silly string!
Environmental Camp
Our Grade 6 students recently attended Environmental Camp with Mrs. Bidwell and Mr. Gagnon, where they engaged in hands-on learning experiences in the outdoors. From exploring nature and building teamwork skills to gaining a deeper appreciation for the environment, students had a meaningful and memorable experience.
PTO Egg Drop
Our PTO Egg Drop was a huge success and so much fun for everyone involved! While there was no helicopter drop this year, the excitement was still high as students headed out to the field to collect candy-filled eggs. It was a joyful event filled with smiles and laughter. A big thank you to Mrs. Mullen and our PTO for organizing events like this that bring our school community together!
Wellness Week recap
CCS wrapped up a fun and engaging Wellness Week focused on healthy choices and trying new foods! Each day featured a different color theme, with students sampling a variety of fruits and vegetables while learning about nutrition. Classrooms also participated in a friendly challenge to name as many foods as they could by color. It was a great way to promote healthy habits, encourage teamwork, and inspire students to explore new foods. Thank you to our Wellness Team for making this such a successful and enjoyable week for all!
