Wiggin Street Parent Update
October 17, 2025
Better Together and Reaching for the Stars!
Dear Wiggin Street Families,
I am excited to share that Lt. Governor Tressel will be visiting Wiggin Street next Thursday! We will hold an assembly for 3rd–5th grade students at 1:00 p.m. The assembly will focus on the Team Tressel Fitness Challenge, which all 4th and 5th grade students have had the opportunity to participate in.
Our hope is to live stream the assembly on our YouTube page so that younger students and their teachers can also view it. If this plan is confirmed, we will share the live stream link prior to Thursday via Instant Connect.
We just received confirmation of this visit a few days ago, so students have not yet been informed. Please feel free to share the exciting news with your child! We are asking that students wear Ohio State or Wiggin Street spirit wear if they have it. If not, a simple red shirt would be perfect.
I had intentionally scheduled picture day to avoid overlapping with MVHS Spirit Week as in previous years. Ironically, the Tressel Fitness Challenge assembly happens to fall on the same day as picture day! Students may choose to wear spirit wear for their picture or bring a change of clothes to switch into at lunchtime, since pictures will be taken in the morning and the assembly will take place in the afternoon.
Thursday evening is also our Annual Pumpkins on Parade! Beginning at 5 pm on October 23rd, your family is invited to bring a blanket or chairs to sit on the front lawn of Wiggin Street to decorate a pumpkin. Each child or family needs to bring their own pumpkin and Friends of Wiggin Street will provide decorations. Parents are expected to stay with their children and help them to create a boo-tiful pumpkin creation. The event will last from 5-7 pm. Also, come hungry! Buddy's Local Eats food truck will be at the school!
Enjoy the rest of this update to see all of the fun and exciting things that happened this week!
Warm regards,
Christy Grandstaff

Lt. Gov. Tressel's Team Fitness Challenge: Wednesday Morning Fitness
The Kenyon Women's Tennis Team visited this Wednesday, and they will be returning in the near future. Students that did not get to try their hand at tennis due to a shortage of rackets will be able to next visit.
Next week, we will host the Men's Lacrosse Team! The students enjoyed learning about the game of Lacrosse from the Women's team. This will give them the opportunity to learn more about a game that most have not had the opportunity to play in the past.
Lastly, we look forward to our visit from Lt. Gov. Tressel! We know his inspiring words will help students to be motivated to continue their Team Tressel Fitness Challenge.
1st Grade Pumpkin Patch Field Trip
Our first grade students made the trip to Boeshart Farms Countrie Acres in Danville this week. They had fun picking out their pumpkin and played hard! The pumpkin patch had so many activities for the kids.
Kiwanis Reads
Mr. Curry from Kiwanis came to read to Mrs. Zolman's class this week! He will come each month to read to them and share a book that they can keep in their classroom library. Mrs. Biros from Kiwanis will be reading with Mrs. Sanders class.
Kindergarten Space Exploration
National School Lunch Week (Week of October 13th)
This week was National School Lunch Week. The theme this year was "Taste the World".
Tuesday was Inspired by a trip to Italy and food service offered Chicken Primavera with Garlic Toast in all of our elementary schools. We took a trip around to Japan on Wednesday to enjoy Teriyaki Popcorn Chicken with Brown Rice. Finally, we rounded out the week in France with a Chicken Ham Croissant Sandwich.
Out of this World Recess
Students that earned at least 50 PBIS points this quarter with no major referrals enjoyed an extra recess on Thursday with Kenyon athletes. We are so appreciative of the Kenyon students' time. I believe they had an equal amount of fun as our Wiggin Street Kids!
5th Grade Inquiry Lesson
Mrs. Brenneman's Math classes completed a fun inquiry lesson this week. The question was How many Gummy Bears will fit in Mrs. Brenneman's room?
Fall Harvest Parade and Parties
We are excited for our parade and parties on October 31st! Children are invited to participate in our annual costume parade. The parade will begin at 2:15 with parties following.
Costumes should come to school in a bag and childrenshould be able to get in and out of their costumes easily. (If you feel your child needs help with his/her costume, please contact the classroom teacher.) Please make sure that there are no scary costumes because of our younger students. There should be no Halloween masks. No pretend weapons of any kind are permitted at school even as a part of the costume. Please save those for trick-or-treat night.
We ask parents not to pass out treats along the route, however some of the local businesses may pass out candy to kids. Our PTO will be providing bags for the treats they get along the way.
Lost and Found
It's that time of year! Please remind your child to look at the Lost in Found that is in the hallway leading to the cafeteria for their lost items. Hopefully, these pictures will help you to know if your child has something missing. Thanks for your help!
Coats for Kids: We are accepting donations for children in need.
