Please keep in mind that calls or texts from SchoolStatus may come from an unfamiliar phone number. Emails and text messages may also be sent to your spam or junk folder, so please check those folders regularly. If you believe you are missing messages or have any questions, please contact your child’s campus for assistance. Also, make sure your contact information is current so you do not miss any important updates!
Help us share some Positive Pirate Praise!
Has a staff member at Shepherd Primary or Shepherd Intermediate made a positive difference for your child or family? We would love to hear about it! Families and community members are invited to recognize our hardworking teachers and staff by completing a Positive Pirate Praise form.

CKH November Character Trait
This November, our Capturing Kids’ Hearts focus is teamwork! We’re helping students practice working together, listening to others, and doing their part toward a shared goal. Families can reinforce teamwork at home by preparing a meal together, tackling a household task, or playing a cooperative game. Celebrate the moments when your child helps, encourages others, or contributes to the team. Together, we can accomplish great things!
Nurse's Notes
As we gear up to begin another exciting school year, I would like to welcome all of our students
and families back! I hope you have had a safe, relaxing, and enjoyable summer. As we prepare
for a successful year of learning, here are a few important health reminders to help ensure a
healthy start for everyone.
Update Emergency Contact Information: Please make sure your child's emergency contacts,
phone numbers, and medical information are current in the school's records. We strongly
encourage families to list more than one emergency contact in the event we are unable to
reach the primary parent or guardian during an emergency. Having multiple reliable contacts
helps ensure your child receives timely care and support when needed.
Immunizations: Ensure your child's immunizations are up to date and that any required
documentation has been submitted by August 3, 2026. Your child will be unable to begin the
school year if immunizations are not up to date with an updated vaccination record provided
to the school.
Medications at School: If your child will need medication during the school day, all
medications (prescription and over-the-counter) must be brought to the school by a parent or
guardian and accompanied by a current order from your child's physician. Prescription
medications must be in their original container with pharmacy label attached and OTC
medications must be in the original, unopened container. For student safety, medications
cannot be sent to school with students. Any medications brought to school by a student will
be confiscated and destroyed.
Health Conditions: If your child has asthma, diabetes, severe allergies, seizures, or any other
medical condition, please notify the school nurse as soon as possible so we can work together
to provide appropriate care during the school day. Please provide Emergency Action Plans
signed by your child's physician along with any medical supplies your child may need. For food
allergies. please provide a completed Dietary Accommodation form signed by your child's
physician.
Questions or Concerns: If you need health forms (Emergency Action Plans, prescription or OTC
medication authorization forms, Dietary Accommodation forms, etc.) or have any questions or
concerns, please reach out to your campus nurse. I am here to support your child's health and
success while at school.

This November, bring teamwork into your family’s reading routine! Share a book, take turns reading, or let your child describe the illustrations while you read aloud. Younger readers can join in by repeating familiar phrases or turning the pages.

Student Spotlight
Our Pirates have been busy learning, growing, and making wonderful memories! Throughout October, students participated in engaging classroom activities, worked toward their reading goals, demonstrated positive character, and celebrated special moments with their families and school community.
We are incredibly proud of the effort, kindness, creativity, and leadership our students display each day. Enjoy a look at some of the learning and celebrations happening across Shepherd Primary and Shepherd Intermediate!
Little Helpers, BIG Imaginations!
After making our Elmer the Elephant, we got to pretend to be community helpers during center time! We loved it
Celebrating heritage in Ms. Garcia’s class!
In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, every student in Ms. Garcia’s class created a poster board showcasing their own heritage! This project gave our little Pirates a chance to share what makes them unique and learn more about one another.
We’re proud of their creativity and the pride they showed in sharing their roots. Thank you, Ms. Garcia, for helping students celebrate the many stories that make our classroom community special!
Alakazam! Watch the Magic E work its magic!
Our 1st graders used large letter cards to build words and then transformed them into Magic E words. They added the “magic” e, changed the vowel sound, and watched their words come to life!
Better Together: Contraction Crew!
Big thinking in 3rd grade math!
Learning together!
Our 4th graders worked collaboratively to create chronological timelines, putting events in the correct order while sharing ideas and learning from one another!
Our 5th graders are really digging into Lesson 1 of our Early Civilizations unit!
Today, they became archaeologists, using sieves to uncover artifacts left behind by the Mayans, Aztecs, and Incas. They had a blast getting hands-on while learning how archaeologists use artifacts to discover clues about the past!
Learning is always more fun when you can dig into it!
Looking Ahead
December is just around the corner, bringing holiday cheer and a busy finish to our semester! As winter break approaches, we’ll continue encouraging our Pirates to stay engaged, show kindness, and finish strong.
Be sure to check SchoolStatus, our campus Facebook pages, and your child’s take-home information for December activities and schedule reminders. We’re excited to wrap up the semester with our Pirate families and celebrate all our students have accomplished!
