Message from the Superintendent
Parent-teacher conferences are just around the corner, and I encourage every family to take the opportunity to meet with your childβs teacher. When parents make time to attend conferences, it sends a powerful message to children that their education matters and that we believe in their ability to succeed.
Attendance matters, too! Consistent attendance is one of the key factors in student success because it gives students the time they need to learn, grow, build relationships, and stay connected to their classroom community.
At SESD, our mission is to inspire students to dream big and realize their highest potential while fostering a strong sense of belonging through quality instruction and enhanced opportunities. Our visionβDream! Believe! Achieve!βis something we want every student to live each day. When families, teachers, and our school community work together, we create the support and encouragement our students need to reach their highest potential. Thank you for partnering with us and for helping our Roadrunners dream, believe, and achieve!
Yours in Education,
Mrs. Murrieta

READ! READ! Important News!
Beginning this school year, Arizona's Healthy Schools Act introduces new requirements for foods that are served, sold, or shared during the school day in schools participating in federal meal programs.
What does this mean for families?
You can still pack any lunch, snack, or treat for your own child. These new requirements do not apply to food you send for your child's individual use.
If you're sending snacks or treats to be shared with the class, they must meet the Arizona Healthy Schools Act requirements. Classroom celebrations, birthday treats, and other shared foods during the school day must follow the new guidelines.
To make things easier, our Food Services Dept has created a list of approved classroom snacks that can be shared with students. From crackers and popcorn to fruit snacks and beverages, there are plenty of options that meet the new requirements. Check out our website at www.goroadrunners24.com.
We appreciate your partnership in helping us provide a safe, healthy learning environment for all students. Please take a moment to review the attached graphic before purchasing classroom snacks this year.
Thank you for helping us keep our students healthy, safe, and ready to learn!

Attendance Matters!
As you make your plans for the 2026-2027 school year and start scheduling your child's appointments, please remember to consider scheduling on Fridays or when students are on break. EVERY single day in school matters!
