November Lifeline: Gratitude
This month, we’re focusing on Gratitude—noticing and appreciating the good things in our lives and the people who make them happen. Gratitude is about choosing to pause, reflect, and say “thank you” for both the big and small things that make each day brighter.
When we take time to express gratitude, we strengthen our connections and nurture a more joyful outlook on life.
Thanksgiving Break - No school November 26th-28th
Dear Boone Meadow Families -
It’s hard to believe we have just two school days left in November before we turn the calendar to December. This year is flying by, and as the saying goes, “Time flies when you’re having fun!” Our students and staff are working hard each day to make the most of our time together, and we are grateful for the energy and joy they bring to our school.
A huge shout-out to our incredible PTO for another successful Book Fair! These opportunities for students and families happen because of the dedication of so many leaders and volunteers—thank you. We are also grateful for the crockpots of delicious soups provided for our staff today. Your kindness and care mean more than you know.
Speaking of PTO, their love for coordinating meaningful gift-giving is in full swing. The Adopt Team Meadow event has now reached its “donation” phase. If you feel led to participate, you’ll find more information and contact details in the section below. Please know this is completely optional—your support in any form is always appreciated.
We also want to celebrate the tremendous success of Wellness/STEM Night on Thursday. Under the leadership of Mrs. Bender and Mr. Stephens—and with support from many staff members and high school science students—it was a joy to watch families explore science experiments, learn about astronomy, drive robots, play gaga ball, and take on lightning-fast cup-stacking challenges. We loved having you here with us and hope you had a wonderful time.
Lastly, (and yes, again...arrival/dismissal note) thank you for your continued cooperation and flexibility during arrival and dismissal. As our community grows, safety remains our top priority, and we can only achieve that together. Your patience, partnership, and willingness to adapt are truly appreciated. A gentle reminder that a slightly earlier arrival window (7:45–7:55 AM) helps ease the morning flow and starts students’ days on a more relaxed note. We will continue opening our doors at or near 7:45 AM each day.
We are grateful for you and hope you enjoy a restful, joy-filled weekend.
With gratitude,
Tom & Jarrod

Jarrod Gatlin, Assistant Principal

Arrival/Dismissal Assistance
Thank you for your continued cooperation and flexibility during arrival and dismissal. As our community grows, safety remains our top priority, and we can only support that priority by working together. Your patience, partnership, and willingness to adapt are truly appreciated.
A gentle encouragement: arriving just a few minutes earlier—between 7:45–7:55 AM—significantly improves flow and reduces stress for students and drivers alike. Our doors open at or near 7:45 each morning, and there is often a lull in traffic between 7:50–7:55. If your typical arrival is close to 8:00, even a five-minute shift makes a meaningful difference.
Car Rider Arrival Procedures
• All vehicles should enter Boone Meadow through the Eagle Church access road during arrival and dismissal.
• Near the end of the access road, K–4 car riders should transition safely into the lane leading to the main curb—please, no cutting.
• Morning drop-off begins at or near 7:45; earlier arrival helps maintain steady flow.
• Students should be dropped off at the curb; additional foot traffic slows the process and impacts safety.
• Adults are to remain in vehicles, and students should exit on the curb side only.
• Please do not drop off students in the parking lot. If you need to enter the building, park and use sidewalks.
We are grateful for your partnership. Your attention to these procedures keeps our students safe and ensures a smoother, calmer start and end to each day. Thank you for your continued support and care for our school community.
Family Assistance - Boone Meadow Cares for Our Families
Life can sometimes bring unexpected challenges, and we want our Boone Meadow families to know—you are not alone. If your family could use a little extra support with food items, meal assistance/student fees, whether for a short season or throughout the school year, we’re here to help in kind and confidential ways.
Weekend Food Support – BME Backpack Program
Through our Backpack Program, Boone Meadow provides non-perishable food items each Friday to families who may benefit from additional support. Items often include soups, vegetables, macaroni and cheese cups, or snacks to help bridge the weekend gap. Food is placed discreetly into students’ backpacks before they head home.
If you would like to receive extra food support through this program, please click the link below to sign up.

Winter Weather Reminders
With our recent winter weather, this is a good time to share a few reminders about procedures on snowy or cold days:
Two-hour delays: On delay days, we are unable to have outdoor recess due to the abbreviated day and adjusted schedules for related arts and lunch.
Snow play: Students must have proper snow gear (snow pants, boots, hats, gloves) in order to play in the snow. Students without full gear will still have access to games and playground equipment in the cleared/safe areas of the back lot.
Cold temperatures: We value fresh air, and students should be prepared for outdoor play if temperatures are above 10 degrees. Thank you for sending your child prepared for the weather.
Label your gear: Winter gear is easily misplaced, and names on items help us return belongings quickly. Our lost and found grows rapidly this time of year!

Lunch Guests & Reservations
Lunch Guests
We are ready to welcome lunch guests! Students and their guests will have lunch at designated locations in the front lobby area. Please no more than 2 guests per student due to limited space. So that others may have the opportunity, we ask that you not sign up more than 1 time per month. As we implement this new system/procedure, we will limit availability the first two weeks to Monday, Wednesday, and Friday visits.
Here's how it works:
- Sign up for a reservation in advance using this link: https://outlook.office365.com/owa/calendar/BMELunchSchedule@zcsk12in.onmicrosoft.com/bookings/ When you sign up, please be certain to complete all fields requested.
- Bring a photo ID and arrive 5 minutes early (lunch times are listed on the signup form link above).
- Your child will meet you in the front office area when they are ready.
- HAVE FUN!
Visitors and Volunteers
During the school day, all volunteers are expected to check in at the front office. Prior to the volunteer's first volunteer experience, the individual must sign a Non-disclosure Acknowledgement Form and have successfully completed a Full Criminal History Background Check.. Necessary background check paperwork is available on the ZCS website at the Volunteers/BRAVO link and should be submitted at least 10 days before the intended volunteer date. Volunteers must also view the state-mandated confidentiality/bullying video, provided on the Volunteer/BRAVO website. The volunteer will pay the fee for the full background check which will expire after 5 years.
During the school day, all visitors must enter via the front door and sign in at the front office. Visitors need to be prepared to present a government-issued photo ID which will be scanned against the National Sex Offender Registry. All visitors will be issued a visitor badge/tag to be worn inside the building at all times. Visitors other than parents/guardians must be prearranged and organized through the main office.
