Attendance Policy

Students who have an unexcused absence from after school rehearsal will not perform at halftime at the football game this week. Please communicate any conflicts that you have with band rehearsals. We will work with your schedule to find solutions.

Pieper Home Football Game

Parents, please consider signing up to volunteer as a chaperone or load crew if you have already completed the CISD background check here. The sign up to volunteer is here.

Students need to bring these items with them to school on Friday.

-Formal Uniform Parts for game

Band - long black socks, marching shoes, compression shirt and shorts
Show hair and makeup (will talk about more in class this week), show undergarments (strapless or clear straps), no show socks, guard shoes

Here are some things to consider for band students in the formal uniform.

Hair needs to be up off the collar – use only black hair ties.
No make-up or jewelry may be worn, except class rings and SLT bracelets. Please remove all finger nail polish this week.

Schedule for the day

4:30 School released and Feed the Band
5:15 Run through at practice field in athletic shorts, compression gear, long black socks, and marching shoes
5:35 Move equipment to stadium and dress into marching uniform
6:05 Inspection and march to the stadium
6:30 Pre-game ceremonies
7:00 Davenport vs. Pieper Football Game
10:15 Approximate pick-up time at DHS Band Hall

Meal on Friday

Dominos Pizza - Up to three slices of pizza. Choice of pepperoni or extra cheese.

Thunder in the Hills Drumline Contest

Band Yard Signs

Yard Signs are $25 and can be paid for by PayPal or at the BandMart table Friday night. Orders will be open through September 18th and pick up should hopefully be right around Fair Day.

Region Jazz Auditions

Region Jazz Auditions are Saturday, September 21st for students that registered for the audition. The $20 entry fee is due this week if it has not already been paid. Students who place in the top of their room will be asked to record their music to be judged against all the other regions for a chance to make the All-State Jazz Band. We will be taking a bus from Davenport HS to La Vernia HS and back.

Schedule for the day

8:00 am - Meet at DHS Band Hall
8:15 am - Leave for La Vernia HS
9:15 am - Arrive at La Vernia HS
9:30 am - Judges' Meeting
10 am - Audition Begins (bring money for concessions for lunch)
3 pm - Approximate end time, load, and leave
~3:45pm - Parent pick-up at Davenport HS

Hosting USBands Contest October 5th

On Saturday, October 5th, the Wolf Band will be hosting the USBands San Antonio Regional Marching Contest. We are looking for any and all volunteers that would be willing to donate their time to ensure the competition is a success! The Sign Up Genius for volunteer jobs will be sent out next weekend.

Alternates/Shadows Update

We will be reassessing our A and B shadow assignments after the performance at Del Rio HS on September 20th. Observations during performances and rehearsals, as well as pass off completion for the winds will be used to make final assignments. This will have given our As and Bs two performances each before we make final assignments for contest season. As and Bs will continue to follow this performance schedule.

Inspection

We will taking a daily grade for inspection on Friday. Students who are missing one item will receive a 50, and two or more items will result in a 0. Winds and battery percussion will have their flip folders checked. Front ensemble (cymbals) does not need flip folders. Color guard and band students will need to have all required summer uniform parts including a belt and hat for the band. Please talk to a band director before Friday to get help obtaining any missing items to avoid loosing points on inspection.
