Adopt a Child

DHS Band is participating in Adopt a Child for Christmas. We are asking for donations ($5-$10) to pool money to buy gifts for our adopted child. We are asking for cash only. The last day to donate will be Friday, December 6th. We will ask a parent volunteer to shop for the items on the wish list using the donated cash. We will also need student or parent volunteers to wrap the presents.

Butter Braid Fundraiser

We kicked off our Butter Braid Fundraiser the week before the break. We are raising money for next years marching show :)

We will run the fundraiser through Wednesday, December 4 at 12:00 p.m.

Delivery will be Tuesday, December 17th.

Region Band Auditions

Region audition are at LaVernia HS on Saturday, December 7th. We are taking two busses to and from the audition. Students that are auditioning may not wear clothing that identifies them as a Davenport HS student.

We will need some chaperones to be with students before and after their addition in the cafeteria while the directors are judging. Please sign up here is you have already completed the district background check.

Schedule for the Day

7:30 am - Call time for percussion to load Rusty
8:00 am - Call time for wind players @ DHS
8:15 am - Leave for LaVernia HS
9:15 am - Set up home base in LaVernia HS Cafeteria
9:30 am - Check in begins
10:00 am - Auditions begin
3:30 pm - Approximate end time for auditions
5:00 pm - Approximate parent pick up at DHS

Students may drive themself to and from the audition with an email from a parent expressing permission. Students may not drive each other.

The concession stand will be open in the cafeteria. Students auditioning need to have a plan for lunch - either bring food or purchase from concessions.

Here is a list of all students registered to audition. Students who earn a chair in the region band will earn a Davenport HS Letter Jacket. The clinic and concert is Monday, December 16th at Davenport HS for students that make the bands.

More information including room assignments for students auditioning will be added mid week once they are released. Warm up is in the cafeteria.

Region music for all instruments can be found at the link below. Please make sure you are looking at Year D and reading the cover sheet to see if there are cuts to your instrument's etudes.

Florida Trip Hotel and Bus Sign Up

Students attending the Florida trip will be signing up for a hotel room and bus seat this week on the following schedule. Students must sign up with a director before/after school, lunch, or during the passing period.

Wednesday any time - Seniors
Wednesday starting after school - Juniors

Thursday any time - Sophomores
Thursday starting after school - Freshmen

All students must sign up for a hotel room and bus seat by Friday at 4:45 pm or they will be assigned to a room/seat.

Holiday Concert

Our Holiday Concert is Monday, December 9th at 7 pm in the DHS Auditorium. All band students are performing at this concert. Color guard will not be performing this year because of how late the state marching contest was this year. All band students will need to stay after school for rehearsal the day of the concert. We are feeding all band and color guard students before the concert.

We will be wearing dress pants and school appropriate tacky holiday sweaters. Students who do not wish to wear a tacky holiday sweater may wear business casual attire – dress pants and a collared shirt or a dress that covers the shoulders and goes past the knee when sitting down. No open toed shoes.

Spring Semester Band Auditions

All band students will be auditioning for band and chair placement for the spring semester during class starting December 10th.

Winter Guard

Congratulations to everyone who tried out for Winter Guard! Here are results.

Fees

Fair Share Fee - $300 (Varsity and JV)
Costume Fee (students get to keep their costume) approx. $180 (Varsity only)
JV will be wearing the costumes from the Fall.

We are having a Winter Guard parent meeting immediately after practice on December 12th at 7 pm.
