We are SO excited for the 2026-2027 school year to start in just 6 days! I hope those who attended enjoyed the PTA Sponsored "Last Splash Pool Party" on Tuesday! There is no better way to close out summer than connecting with old friends and finding new ones at the pool!

Everyone should have received their class placement email on Thursday, August 13th. If you did not receive your class placement information, please reach out to Mrs. Berthlein or Mrs. Dunning in the office and they will be able to assist you!

We have some new faces and some new processes this school year so please enjoy the helpful video below.

We cannot wait to see everyone on THURSDAY, AUGUST 20th to launch this school year.

Have a great last weekend of summer!

Ellie Chin

Welcome to Patton!

FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL DROP OFF (NEW POST!) FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL DROP OFF (NEW POST!)

Many families choose to accompany their child onto the blacktop for drop-off on the first day, and we welcome you to do so if you’re able. Parents like to take photos and watch their children enter the building. Teachers are outside to welcome the students and bring them inside. There is always a fun, celebratory feel on the first day, and we would love for you to join us and help celebrate your child(ren)’s first day at Patton!

Kindergarten will line up on the grass, and the other grades will line up with first grade closest to the parking lot and fifth grade closest to the playground. Signs with each teacher's name will be lined up near the building to help everyone find their line. Cross your fingers for good weather! If it is raining, we will move lineup indoors, and it will be for students only.

It is important to know that parking can be a challenge. Many families choose to walk or ride bikes on their first day or park on the nearby streets (please only park where it is permitted - street signs do clearly indicate where you cannot park). Teachers will come outside around 8:50, but many families begin lining up on the blacktop around 8:45.

We look forward to a wonderful year together!

A MESSAGE FROM THE PE TEACHERS (NEW POST!) A MESSAGE FROM THE PE TEACHERS (NEW POST!)

We’re excited to share that we collected brand-new and gently used gym shoes in a variety of sizes to keep in the PE office! This allows students who come to PE without appropriate footwear to safely participate.

We also have new socks available for use when students borrow PE shoes. Please wash and return the socks to the PE office so they are available for others. Students are also welcome to keep an extra pair of socks in their backpack for PE.

For health and safety, shoes will be sanitized after each use.

If you prefer that your child not borrow PE shoes, please contact Mrs. Rabinowitz to let us know.

Thank you for helping us keep PE safe, healthy, and inclusive for everyone!

Welcome back Patton Families! We on the traffic team are looking forward to seeing everyone next week!

We are so lucky to have wonderful parent, grandparent and caregiver volunteers come to help ensure these times of the day run smoothly and safely. This year, we are in need of some extra help! Do you (or a caregiver or a grandparent...) have a bit of spare time before or after school? Do you want to be one of the first friendly faces our Patton Panthers see when they arrive at school or the last high five they get at the end of the school day? If so, we would love for you to consider volunteering to help us get our Panthers in and out of cars! We welcome people who are able to give any amount of time - morning only, afternoon only, one day a week, or even just once-in-a-while as a substitute! We would be so grateful for your help!

Being part of the traffic team is a great way to feel like part of the amazing Patton community and is also a great way to meet other parents!

If you are considering volunteering, but aren't quite ready to make a commitment, you can shadow a traffic volunteer one day and see what it's like. We have wonderful kids who smile at you, say thank you, and are excited to tell you about their day. (Great job, parents!)

If you're ready to help, complete this google form to express your interest. Thank you!

Reach out with any questions to pattontrafficteam@gmail.com and we can help.

Thanks,

Chris and Tracy

UPCOMING SAFETY DRILLS (NEW POST!) UPCOMING SAFETY DRILLS (NEW POST!)

We have scheduled each of our Safety Drills for the fall. Teachers will explain the reason for each safety drill and the procedures that should be followed to their students. We practice early in the school year so students know what to do in the event of an emergency. Please do not be alarmed if you see emergency vehicles at Patton during these dates as the Arlington Heights Police Department will join us for the Lockdown Drill and the Arlington Heights Fire Department will be present for one of our Evacuate drills.

We can't wait to celebrate the start of this amazing school year with all of you in style!!

CLASS PLACEMENT NOTIFICATION (Updated Post) CLASS PLACEMENT NOTIFICATION (Updated Post)

User uploaded image

Class placement information was sent out via email on Thursday, August 13th.

At this time, teacher assignments are final. Our class development process involves significant time and careful consideration. Decisions were thoughtfully made for each student as we share your desire for each of our Panthers to have a successful year of learning and growth, and to have fun and enjoy each day they enter our doors.

We do understand that children may feel nervous or anxious about the start of a new year with different classmates, a new teacher, and a different space. To support your child in this transition, we hope you will attend our School Supply Drop-Off/Meet and Greet on Wednesday, August 19th from 2:50 - 3:20 pm. This will allow your child the opportunity to meet their teacher, see the classroom, and see the friendly and familiar faces of their future classmates. If you are unable to attend, please rest assured that all of our teachers will include a variety of activities to help students get to know one another as the year begins.

SCHOOL SUPPLY DROP OFF - Wednesday, August 19th (FINAL POST!) SCHOOL SUPPLY DROP OFF - Wednesday, August 19th (FINAL POST!)

Supply Drop off will take place on Wednesday, August 19th from 2:50 - 3:20pm. Teachers are still busy preparing for an amazing first day of school. Please stop by to drop off school supplies and meet your teacher! We kindly ask that only current families visit the classroom so that teachers are able to say hello and connect with each of their new students during this time. Once you drop off your supplies please feel free to stop by the commons to taste some of our delicious hot lunch items, meet Ashley Campos, our new assistant principal, or head outside to the blacktop area and connect with other families outdoors. There is no need to organize supplies while you are in the classroom. Teachers will build that into the first few days of school.

If you ordered supplies through the PTA, those supplies will be delivered directly to your child's classroom. If you still need to purchase supplies, you can now access grade-level supply lists on the Patton website and pull them through to your store of choice. Simply navigate HERE, head to the “Quick Links for Parents” section, pull down the “School Supply List 26-27” menu, and select the appropriate grade. Please see below for the school supply list if you prefer to purchase in person!. Please take special note of the recommended headphones linked here.

If you are unable to attend supply drop off, please know that your child can bring their supplies in over the first few days of school.

CELL PHONES AND ELECTRONIC DEVICES IN SCHOOL (2nd Post) CELL PHONES AND ELECTRONIC DEVICES IN SCHOOL (2nd Post)

User uploaded image

As we get ready to start the new school year, we wanted to draw your attention to this excerpt from the Parent Student Handbook.

If your child has a smart watch or cell phone, please discuss and establish expectations with them prior to sending them to school. All devices should be turned off and left in backpacks during the school day (see AHSD25 Parent Student Handbook, Page 40 and below)

Please explain to your child/ren that they should reach out to their teacher, the front office, or Mrs. Klancnik, our school nurse, if they need to reach you during the day. We care about all of our students and will support them as needed while they are here at school. Any parent or guardian who needs to communicate a message to their child during the school day should call the office. Please know that your message will be passed on to your child. We appreciate your understanding and partnership.

From the Parent/Student Handbook, page 40

Cell Phones and Other Electronic Devices

The possession and use of cell phones and other electronic devices, including wearables, are subject to the following rules:

  • Middle school students are expected to turn off electronics and store devices in their middle school locker during the school day.

  • Elementary students are expected to leave electronics in the “off” position and in their backpacks throughout the school day.

  • A supervising teacher may grant permission for them to be used or if needed during an emergency.

  • They may not be used in any manner that will cause disruption to the educational environment or will otherwise violate student conduct rules.

TOYS - PLEASE KEEP THEM SAFE AND SOUND AT HOME (2nd Post) TOYS - PLEASE KEEP THEM SAFE AND SOUND AT HOME (2nd Post)

Please ensure all toys remain at home this year. We provide equipment for students to use at recess whether it is outdoor recess or indoor recess. We ask that anything that is not part of their school supplies remains at home so they are not lost or damaged. Please note that we are also referring to squishies, NeeDohs, dumplings, etc.

If there is a special class celebration, the teacher will notify students and parents that they can bring in something for the special event. For example, your child's class may have a pajama or fort day where students are able to bring in a stuffed animal. On these occasions they are welcome to bring in these items. Outside of special events all toys, including fidgets, should be left at home to avoid becoming a distraction in the classroom or being lost or damaged at school.

For any students who have an individualized plan to have access to fidgets at school, Patton staff will provide a fidget that supports their needs.
