Carter's Corner
I hope this finds you all well-rested and ready to kick-start another week at Lipscomb! Thank you to our PTA for providing a snack cart for our teachers to access throughout the school day (Pictured)! This small token goes such a long way with our faculty and staff members, and it is because of your support we are able to continue this again this year!
There are a few more adjustments we will make to ensure our classes are down to the ideal size. I appreciate your patience and understanding as these moves are not taken lightly and require a ton of research to ensure every kid is in the highest-quality instructional environment.
This week we welcome Assistant Principal Yetts to campus, who will be evaluating teachers grades PK, Kinder, and 5th grade! We are excited to continue LEVELING UP with her leadership on campus!
With Gratitude,
Mr. Carter
About Mrs. Yetts
Maria Yetts, driven by her passion for educating young learners, embarked on a journey to this country with big dreams. This year, she is taking her love to the next level as an assistant principal at William Lipscomb Elementary, a testament to her unwavering dedication to her students.
Assistant Principal Yetts started her teaching career at Lee McShan Elementary. Then, she transferred to John F. Kennedy Learning Center, where she developed avid readers thanks to the master's degree she earned at SMU. She was part of three cohorts: one in Early Literacy, followed by a Newcomer academy, and one in Learning Therapy (dyslexia). She created strong relationships with families and community partners, which played a pivotal role in double-digit students' academic achievement.
She continued her teaching journey at Victor Hexter Elementary, where she left an indelible mark on the dual language program. Her promotion of the program led to a remarkable increase in English-speaking families enrolling their children. She fostered a nurturing learning environment for English- and Spanish-speaking learners, significantly enhancing language proficiency and academic scores. Her commitment to supporting families and teaching excellence earned her the Teacher of the Year title.
After that, assistant principal Yetts took her leadership skills to the next level, earning a master's in Educational Leadership at Texas Tech. She had the opportunity to do her principal residency at Wilmer Hutchins Elementary under principal Ortega's leadership. She learned that solid systems in place, effective instruction, and effective communication are the keys to academic success for all students.
With her boundless enthusiasm, extensive experience, and shared vision and mission, Maria Yetts is set to lead William Lipscomb Elementary to unprecedented heights. Her alignment with the school's vision and mission and unwavering dedication will undoubtedly bring about a new era of success.
