Winter Break Wishes & Happy New Year from Doherty Middle School

Dear Doherty Families,

As we wrap up our final days of school for 2025, I wanted to send a quick note of gratitude to our entire community.

The first half of the school year has flown by. We have seen your children grow, learn, and navigate the unique adventures of middle school with resilience and energy. It is a privilege to partner with you in their education, and we appreciate the support you provide to our teachers and staff every day.

I hope this upcoming break provides a wonderful opportunity for your family to slow down, disconnect from the daily school routine, and enjoy quality time together. Whether you are traveling or enjoying a "staycation" here at home, I hope the days ahead are filled with joy and relaxation.

We look forward to seeing your students back in the hallways in January, ready to tackle the second half of the year.

From all of us at Doherty Middle School, we wish you a safe, restful break and a very happy 2026!

Sincerely,

Rebecca Perry

Principal Doherty Middle School

The Perfect Start to Our Week! 🥯☕

Dear Families,

We wanted to send a huge thank you for the incredible breakfast spread provided this past Monday morning.

We all know Mondays can sometimes be a challenge, but walking into the Staff Dining Room to find donuts, bagels, fresh fruit, and hot coffee made it the best possible start to the week. It was exactly the energy boost we needed!

Thank you to the PAC and all the families involved for your generosity and for taking such good care of us. We truly appreciate it.

With gratitude, The Doherty Staff

Planned unexcused absences

Just a friendly reminder regarding our district's policy on schoolwork during planned unexcused absences, such as family vacations, competitive activities like sports tournaments, or arts performances. Please understand that teachers are not required to provide work before an unexcused absence, though they are often willing to help if they are able to and appreciate advance notice. Students should utilize Schoology as it provides a helpful guide and overview of class activities and assignments, and the student should plan to check it while they are out. Upon return, the student is responsible for checking in with teachers to create a plan for making up missed work, which is key to ensuring their smooth transition back to class. We appreciate your partnership in supporting your student's learning!

Monday and Tuesday this week we worked hard and had fun! Monday and Tuesday this week we worked hard and had fun!

Even though there were only two school days leading up to the break, it was far from a quiet countdown; those forty-eight hours were absolutely action-packed. Instead of winding down, the classrooms buzzed with energy as we packed the schedule with dynamic activities and hands-on learning experiences. It was a fast-paced finish that maximized every moment, ensuring that we headed into the holidays on a high note of creativity and collaboration.

Please remind your student(s)

Now that we’ve settled into the school year, we want to share a friendly reminder about student devices.

Students are expected to bring their fully charged computers to school every day. You can really help us with this by reminding your student to charge their computer every night. This simple routine makes a big difference in ensuring they are prepared for class each day.

Thank you for your continued partnership in your student's education.
