Dear Westwood View families… Dear Westwood View families…

We hope you enjoyed the Book Fair! Thank you to all of the volunteers and to those who came for Pastries with Parents and Literacy Night. We have some fun activities coming up this month, including a Skate Night, the Carnival and Halloween parties, so please read on to find out more.

The WV Family Directory will be going out soon to all PTA members! If you are not yet a PTA member, you can sign up here. There is also still time to submit your family's information for the directory (and there's more information below if you have questions).

A reminder that you can always find a list of upcoming WV activities on our website at westwoodviewpta.com! Also, the most recent newsletter is always linked on the website header and footer so you can easily find it.

LAST CALL for WV Directory LAST CALL for WV Directory

WV PTA is putting together a school and class directory with Google forms - so anyone who wants to be included can fill out this form.

Some notes:

  • The sooner we have your info, the sooner we can send out the link to the electronic directory.
  • You do not have to include address, email address or phone number if you don't want to.
  • Please fill out a form for each of your children.
  • If we have enough interest, we may have a printed option for a small charge.

October MVP Training October MVP Training

The WV social worker is providing MVP training during conferences on October 16th and 17th. MVP training is for volunteers that will be solely/directly responsible for the supervision of a student or students (other than their individual child/children) such as chaperoning field trips or leading break-out groups for a teacher. MVP certification is good for 5 years. If you are unsure if yours is up to date, please email Stevi Lorson (stevilorson@smsd.org) and she can let you know!

Sign up for MVP training here

Reminder to all WWV Families to join the PTA! And don't worry, signing up for PTA does not mean committing to volunteer shifts or donations! Three easy steps:

1. Create a Givebacks account if you don't already have one: https://westwoodview.givebacks.com/

2. Pay for your PTA membership (and remember, joining the PTA doesn't mean volunteering or committing to any events!) https://westwoodview.givebacks.com/store (Not sure if you already bought one? Email erinmhenry@gmail.com or ptawwv@gmail.com to confirm!)

3. Join the lists that pertain to your kids: https://www.givebacks.com/communication/11414b74-758e-4ece-9bb9-bb0765598608/status - this way you'll be sure to receive emails for classroom parties, teacher appreciation, etc!

We have a new fundraising opportunity to replace Amazon Smile, which is no longer available. This is a seamless, easy way to support the WV PTA with purchases you are already making, at no additional cost to you. Please consider taking these steps to support the PTA today!

Go to Givebacks.com and click log in. Your Memberhub/Givebacks login will transfer over, or you can click on "I forgot my password" if you're having trouble logging in.

Click on the Give button at the top, select My Causes and Add a Cause. Search for Westwood View Elementary PTA and click the grey heart with the arrow next to it on the right and Add to My Causes. Then click on Wallet at the top and link your credit card(s). Now you'll be donating a portion of what you are already spending to WV PTA. The linked cards will do all the work; you don't have to do a thing. And, again, this is zero additional cost to you.
