Principal's Message

Happy Friday Cougar Families!

I hope the shine of the new school year has settled into a steady rhythm and that you and your family are finding your groove.

This weekend, I encourage you to take a moment to check in with your student about what they are learning, how they’re connecting with their peers, and what goals they are setting for themselves. Ask them about their learning intentions and if they reached their learning intention based on the provided success criteria. Those conversations at home make a huge difference and as hard as it is to believe, the first quarter progress reports are submitted next Friday, September 4.

Lastly, I want to thank you for the partnership and support you continue to show our students and staff. Together, we are building a strong Cougar community where every student can thrive. We are proud about all the great things happening at Steele Canyon and hope you are as well. Thank you for trusting us with your students.

Talleres para Padres y Tutores en Español

¿Quieren aprender más e involucrarse en la educación de sus estudiantes? Este año tenemos muchos talleres planeados para toda nuestra comunidad latina, en los que aprenderán a navegar el sistema educativo, a apoyar a sus estudiantes y a utilizar herramientas en su vida personal.

Todos nuestros talleres son completamente en español y están diseñados especialmente para nuestras familias aquí en SCHS.

Comenzamos con nuestro Taller de Finanzas, donde aprenderán herramientas y consejos prácticos para mejorar sus finanzas, administrar mejor su dinero y tomar decisiones económicas más inteligentes.

Youth Opportunity Pass:

Youth 18 years old and younger can ride San Diego transit for free with the Youth Opportunity Pass

YMCA Teen Center:

The Teen Center at McGrath Family YMCA is open every Tuesday and Wednesday from 4-5:30pm to all you in grades 7-12, no membership is required. Each day they are open they will have an optional activity and some kind of snack. If your student is not a member and would like to attend, email mnavarro@ymcasd.org and ask for the link to complete your consent waiver.

Drive Safe - the Cougar Way

Friendly reminder to please drive cautiously when entering and exiting campus. Our Campus Supervisors are here to help keep traffic moving safely and efficiently, and we appreciate your cooperation in following all directions from security personnel. When approaching the school from east Campo Road, please do not drive on the shoulder and allow vehicles to merge into the right-turn lane just before the school entrance. When waiting in traffic lines, please “close the gap” so we can accommodate as many vehicles as possible entering and exiting campus. Please also note that vehicle access at the back of the school is not available during the school day. Thank you for your patience and partnership in keeping our campus safe.
