Roosevelt Report
Our Mission is to educate, challenge, and inspire every student to achieve personal success and become confident contributors to society.
August 23, 2026
Principal Points
Dear Roosevelt Families,
Welcome to the 2026–2027 school year! Whether you are returning to Roosevelt or joining our Tiger family for the very first time, we are so excited to welcome you back. There is something special about the beginning of a new school year: the excitement, the possibilities, and the opportunity to begin a brand-new chapter together.
This year, our staff will be grounding our work in a simple but powerful idea: The Power of Next.
At Roosevelt, we know that growth doesn’t happen all at once. It happens through the next choice, the next conversation, the next attempt, the next idea, and sometimes even the next mistake that teaches us something important.
Next is where growth begins.
Throughout this year, we will encourage our Tigers to recognize where they are today while also asking themselves:
What is my next step?
What can I try next?
What can I learn from this?
How can I grow from here?
The Power of Next is not about expecting perfection. It is about recognizing that there is always another opportunity to learn, adjust, try something differently, and move forward. We want our students to develop the confidence to take risks, the resilience to keep going when something is difficult, and the curiosity to look at challenges from a new perspective.
And this isn't just a message for our students. As a Roosevelt staff, we will be asking ourselves those same questions. We will celebrate what is working, reflect on where we are, and continue looking for the next move that will help our students and our school grow.
Our families are an important part of that journey, too. Every encouraging word at home, every conversation with a teacher, every celebration of effort, and every moment we work together helps our Tigers take their next step.
As we begin this new chapter, I am incredibly excited about what lies ahead for Roosevelt. We don't have to know exactly where every step will lead. We simply have to be willing to take the next one—together.
Here's to a year of new ideas, new possibilities, continued growth, and plenty of Tiger Pride!
Welcome back, Roosevelt Tigers. Let's see where NEXT takes us!
With Tiger Pride,
Mrs. Samouelian
Please Update/ Verify Student Information in Parent Connect
Each year, we ask that all families complete the “Back to School Checklist” in Parent Connect. As we prepare for the new school year, it is important that we have current and reliable information posted in our Student Information System.
We are asking that you update your information in Parent Connect by clicking on the link called “Back to School Checklist” (located at the top of the screen in red) by August 23, 2026.
This is a requirement for all students. Please complete the updates for each student in your household.
We also ask that families also complete the Education Benefits Application regardless of your eligibility status or intent of using the school lunch program. Completed forms help our school attain additional resources for our school. Form completion takes less than 1 minute.
As a reminder, you can access Parent Connect via the district website www.livoniapublicschools.org by clicking on the Parents tab or Scan the QR Code Below.
Medication Drop Off
If your student has a medical condition that requires a Health Care Plan or will have medication stored at school, you may drop off the medication and completed forms off in the office. Please be aware that with the first few days of school, there may be a wait.
Reminder: Medication cannot be sent to school in a student’s backpack. It must be brought in to the office by a parent/guardian. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding!
How To Report An Absence
Parents should excuse an absence by using one of the following methods:
Roosevelt has a school attendance line that is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Please contact us at 734-744-2776 to let us know about an absence. Additonally, you can report your child's absence through Parent Connect.
If you will be out an extended period of time, please use the attendance line to let our offices know. We will be using an automated call service again this year. You will get a call in the AM and PM if your son or daughter is not at school that day. If you would like schoolwork for your child, please call in the morning on the main school line so teachers have ample time to prepare the work. You may pick up the work in the office after school, or have it sent home with a sibling or friend.
How To Sign In A Student Who Is Tardy
If your student arrives after 8:55 they are considered tardy. Please park your car and walk in with your student. An adult must walk them into the building and sign them in for the day. If your student will be leaving early during the school day, please try to avoid lunch & recess times.

Bus Transportation
Transportation information is sent directly to families that qualify by the LPS Transportation Department. If you are not certain whether your child qualifies for transportation in the 2026-2027 school year, please email lpsbus@livoniapublicschools.org or call 734-744-2517.
New Systems - Download the Apps
As you may know, LPS implemented a new mobile app called Stopfinder and a new routing and management system called Transfinder in the spring. Families who are eligible for transportation, based on your home address, should have received an invitation email from “Transfinder,” with instructions on loading the Stopfinder app.
This email contains a form that is tailored to your individual student. If you have more than one student who receives bus service, you will receive a separate email for each student – PLEASE FILL OUT THE FORM CONTAINED IN EACH EMAIL RECEIVED. Some have had trouble filling this out on a cell phone – please use a computer or tablet. If you do not have access to a computer or tablet, please email lpsbus@livoniapublicschools.org.
If you have not received the email, and your household qualifies for bus service, please check with any other parent/guardian associated with your student(s). The emails are auto-sent to the first parent/guardian contact in our Student Information System. Associated parents/guardians may “share” student information with one another for full access to the features in the app. Please also check your spam and/or promotions folders in your email account for this message from “Transfinder.”
If you have not downloaded the mobile app called Stopfinder, please locate the invitation email in your inbox or spam folder for instructions. This will make finding your child's bus information faster and easier prior to the start of the school year.
IMPORTANT: Bus registration will ONLY be completed through Transfinder, as the Parent Connect option for bus registration is now disabled.
If you have any questions, and you’ve done some of the trouble-shooting, please contact the Transportation Department at lpsbus@livoniapublicschools.org.

Students may enter the building, pick up breakfast in the lunchroom if they would like, go to their lockers, and prepare to begin learning by 8:55 AM.
8:55 AM — Instruction Begins
Students arriving at or after 8:55 AM are considered late and must be checked in through the office.
Please park your vehicle and walk your child into the school to sign them in. An adult must accompany the student into the building.
Car Loop Drop-Off
The drive-through line is available for families who would like to drop off without leaving their vehicle.
To keep the line moving safely and efficiently:
- Students using the drive-through car loop line must be able to enter and exit the vehicle independently.
- Children must always exit on the passenger side of the vehicle. If this is not possible, please park and walk your child to the appropriate entrance.
- Please pull forward as far as possible before allowing your child to exit. Our goal is to have approximately 6 vehicles unload at the same time before the next group of cars moves forward.
- Please have backpacks, coats, and other belongings ready before reaching the unloading area.
- Please do not stop early in the line or leave large gaps between vehicles, as this slows the entire drop-off process.
- Drivers must remain in their vehicles while using the drive-through line. If you need to exit your vehicle for some reason, please find a parking space.
Our #1 priority is student safety. Drop-off and pick-up are busy times, with many students, staff members, families, and vehicles moving through the Roosevelt neighborhood and parking lot at once.
As you drive through our neighborhood and parking lot, we ask that you remain calm, patient, respectful, and attentive at all times. Nothing on any of our schedules is more important than keeping our students, staff, and families safe.
Please read the procedures below carefully. If someone other than you will be dropping off or picking up your child, please make sure they are familiar with these procedures as well.
Your patience, cooperation, and commitment to safe driving is imperative.
FRONT OF THE BUILDING SOUTH LOT: BUSES AND CUB CREW ONLY
BACK OF BUILDING: NORTH LOT CAR LOOP (1st-4th grades)
MAIN PARKING LOT: WEST LOT CAR LOOP (Young 5 and Kindergarten ONLY)
DISMISSAL

For everyone's safety:
- Children should never walk through the parking lot without an adult by their side.
- Please use the designated crosswalks.
- Do not cut through the drive-through line or walk between vehicles.
- Parking is permitted only in designated parking spaces.
Car Loop Pick-Up
If you are using the car loop line, please remain in your vehicle at all times. NEW: Students will be dismissed from Door 5 and will be awaiting pickup near the loop and the yellow posts.
To help our line move safely and efficiently:
- Teach your child how to enter the vehicle and buckle independently.
- Children must always enter and exit on the passenger side of the vehicle.
- Please pull all the way up in the line leaving no gaps in spacing.
Thank you for your patience, cooperation, and careful driving. Following these procedures helps us keep dismissal safe and efficient for all Roosevelt students and families!
ELEMENTARY STUDENT HANDBOOK
SCHOOL SUPPLY LIST
Toys, Stuffies, Sports Equipment- Stays Home
As we begin the school year, please help us keep classrooms focused and ready for learning by having students leave toys, stuffed animals, trading cards, and other special items at home unless a teacher has specifically requested them for a classroom activity.
We know how exciting it can be to bring a favorite item to school, but these belongings can sometimes become a distraction or may get lost or damaged. We are proud to announce that we have BRAND NEW RECESS EQUIPMENT! We have a cart dedicated to our upper grades and a cart dedicated to our lower grades, so all students will have access to these materials during recess and brain breaks.
Thank you for helping us keep our Tigers focused on learning, playing, and connecting with friends throughout the school day! 🐯💙🧡
