A Note from Mrs. Solomon and Mrs. Salto
With the weather being so cold this past week, we had indoor recess everyday. It looks like the temperatures might be warming up a little bit next week (fingers crossed)! Please remind your student to dress warm (jacket, hats, gloves, scarf, etc.). Thank you!
Have a great weekend!

Valentine's Day Information
Valentines Day is just a few weeks away! There are not classroom parties that require volunteers. Teachers will be engaging in different activities with their classrooms or grade level. Should you choose to send in valentines with your child please know they should have a valentine for each student in their class. If the valentine includes candy, that is okay, just know we will be sending home any valentine day candy home for students and their families to determine what they can have. Candy will not be eaten here at school, but we completely understand that many valentines cards are candy and they will be allowed to be passed out.
Arrival/Dismissal Procedures Reminder
If you are driving for arrival or pick-up you should be coming through the pick-up line. If you have to park, you should only be parking on the west side of Thornly (closest to the houses). It is very difficult for our buses to drive down Thornly when cars are lining both sides of the street. There is no parent parking allowed on Thornapple (west side of the school). The map sent earlier in the year is below this message for your viewing.
We would really appreciate your support in following these procedures. They really are developed and put in place for the safety of our students and drivers. Please do not be offended as we will be asking people that are not following these procedures to work with us and follow what has been put in place.

ATTENDANCE POLICY UPDATES
D303 Attendance Procedures Update
District 303 attendance procedures were updated and approved at the June 9, 2025, Board Meeting. All district procedures are available in the CUSD 303 Student Handbook found in the Parent/Community tab in the Information column of the districtd303.org website.
Updates to the attendance procedures were made to bring consistency across all schools within the district and to clarify student attendance expectations. One example of an update is the removal of the pre-arranged absence procedure. This aligns with the definitions of excused and unexcused absences found in Section 2.2.
NEW VACATION POLICY:
The pre-arranged absence form and procedure are no longer in use
Vacations during school days are discouraged and will be considered unexcused absences
This change aligns with our commitment to maximizing instructional time for all students
We recognize that families sometimes need flexibility for travel or special circumstances. While we strongly encourage scheduling family trips during school breaks and holidays, we understand that this isn't always possible. We ask for your partnership in minimizing absences during the school year whenever feasible.
Families are encouraged to review the CUSD 303 Student Handbook to familiarize themselves with the districtwide procedures.
