Principal Update to Families
January 4, 2026
Message From the Principal
Dear Hubbard Elementary Families,
Welcome back, and Happy New Year! It is my hope that everyone had an enjoyable and safe Winter Break and that our students are refreshed and ready to return to school with a renewed focus on learning and meeting their individual goals. We look forward to welcoming students back tomorrow as we begin this next phase of the school year together.
As we begin this next chapter of the school year, we remain grounded in our shared purpose and commitment to our students. At Hubbard Elementary, our Vision guides us forward:
Vision
We imagine a future where every student feels confident, curious, and proud of who they are. By honoring our diverse cultures and experiences, we empower students to lead, learn, and make a positive difference in the world.
Our Mission reflects how we bring that vision to life each day:
Mission
Hubbard Elementary will foster a community where effort is celebrated and challenges are seen as opportunities. We will empower confident, generous, curious, and proud students to dream big, lead with kindness, and celebrate diverse cultures and experiences. Together, we build leaders who live with PRIDE through high expectations for learning and personal growth.
As we refocus after the break, we continue to prioritize the goals set by our Board, with a strong emphasis on improving early literacy and mathematics performance. These foundational skills are essential to our students’ long-term success, and we are committed to supporting growth in these areas for every learner.
Before Winter Break, we proudly celebrated over 130 students who met our attendance challenge and were able to enjoy a hot chocolate treat on the final day before break. We are excited to keep this positive momentum going with another 20-day attendance challenge from January 5 through February 4, with the goal of students achieving 95% attendance and earning a treat. This reset is designed to help students reacclimate to school routines and reinforces the importance of being at school, on time, every day.
We understand that there are circumstances that can naturally keep students from being at school every day. These challenges are intended to support our goal of improving attendance and to provide multiple opportunities for students to experience success, even if they are not able to meet the goal every time.
Thank you in advance for your continued focus and commitment to ensuring students arrive at school every day and on time. Your partnership plays a vital role in helping our students thrive.
Below are reminders of our House System, important dates and procedures in place for arrival and dismissal, to help ensure a smooth and safe start as we return from break.
We look forward to a strong start to the new year and to continuing our work together in support of every Hubbard Elementary student. See you tomorrow!!
Warm regards,
Kendra McGaughy

REMINDERS:
Arrival, Breakfast & Dismissal Procedures...School hours:
Our school hours are 9:00 AM to 3:30 PM.
Doors open at 8:30amBreakfast, Arrival, Dismissal:
- Breakfast begins at 8:30 AM (for car riders and walkers) daily (bus riders will eat when they arrive), and students go to class at 8:50 AM. Students who are not eating breakfast should plan to arrive at 8:50am to limit time spent in the cafeteria. The tardy bell rings at 9:00 AM. All car rider and walker students will enter through the doors by the gym. Staff will be available to assist students in getting to class.
Dismissal begins at approximately 3:25 PM. Please have clear communication with your child’s teacher and your child about how they are getting home the first week of school and thereafter. In the unlikely event that you need to make changes to your child’s dismissal method, contact the school office prior to 2:30 PM. Please do not email dismissal changes, and do not leave them on the school’s voicemail. In other words: No Call, No Note, NO CHANGE.
Walkers: Walkers will enter and exit through the gym/cafeteria entrance on Hubbard. You must have documentation in the office prior to your child being dismissed as a walker. Walkers are all dismissed at the same time. Any parents seen picking up their child in a car from the walker side will be removed from the walker list and have to pick up their child on Wilbur.
Car Rider Drop-Off & Pick-Up: There is one designated area for students to be dropped off and picked up. All parents who transport students to and from school should arrive through the student pick-up and drop off area located on Wilber St. on the North side of the school building. Students will then enter the school through the entrance by the gym/cafeteria. Parents are not to park on Wilbur or in the parking lot during arrival and dismissal. Parents are not to drop off or pick-up on Hubbard unless it is after 9:00 am (students will be marked tardy and must be signed into the office by the parent/guardian dropping off). Additional traffic on Hubbard Avenue causes safety issues for students. Parents are expected to follow all school procedures. Do not exit your car at pick-up. You may begin lining up at 3:15 in the car rider line. If you park prior to that, you may be asked to move as we are not permitted to block the street.
