Special Friday Release Dates and Times for the 2024-2025 School Year
Winter break is typically a big change in your child's routines. They might be staying up late, spending more time with family and not following a schedule. We hope they all have had a chance to rest and recharge! When it's time to come back to school, some kids might feel nervous or worried about going back to the routines of getting up early and going to bed on time.
Below are some basic tips to help your child get ready for the return to school. You know your child best, so think about how to best prepare them for a successful transition.
Get Back into Routines: go to bed on time, wake up at the time that matches their school schedule.
Prepare Together: Pick out their clothes, clean out their backpack, pac their snack/lunch and show excitement over the return to school.
Talk About It: Ask your child about how they are feeling. Be an active listener and let them know it's okay to feel happy, sad or even anxious. If they feel supported and heard, you can remind them of all of the good things that going to school brings.
Goodbye Routine: Saying goodbye on the first couple of days can be difficult for you and your child. Create a special ritual like a fun handshake or hug. This can give them something fun about the goodbye and send them on their way with a smile.
Stay Positive: Your attitude towards them returning to school has a huge impact on their attitude towards school. They will respond according to the energy you bring. If you remind them of the fun they have in school with their friends, this always helps!
The second half of the year is when we really see students' independence and confidence grow. Try to promote their independence, give them opportunities to show you how much they have grown and praise them for trying their best. They can do it and so can you!
Our staff will be welcoming and prepared to support all of our wildcats in a positive way back into our routines.

New Playground Equipment for our EC/WELE Students
We are fortunate to have two playgrounds at Woodland Primary School. One is appropriate for our kindergarten students and one is specifically for our preschool students, ages 3-5. Over the winter break, our district Operations and Facilities team and Facilities Manager were able to oversee the installation of some new equipment for our preschool students. The weather cooperated so that the additional pieces could be done before the return of students. We are thrilled with the new items and we know our students will love them, too!
Below are some pictures!
Winter Weather=5 Points!
The snow has come and just a reminder that all students should come to school with the 5 points. This means a warm coat, hat, mittens, snow pants and boots. Without these items, students will not enjoy their recess time and students without boots and snowpants will not be allowed to play in the snow and will have to stay on the blacktop areas. Winter can be a fun time for our students, so please send them to school with all of the proper gear. Thank you!
