Council on Approved Student Education (CASE) Student Scholarship

By way of introduction, my name is Stacy Drohosky. I am affiliated with an organization by the name of StenoStrides. StenoStrides is a volunteer, nonprofit 501(c)(3) corporation in Indiana dedicated to promoting the careers of court reporting and captioning to the public.

My outreach to you is regarding a program we have launched called StenoScholars. StenoScholars was established in 2022 to allow court reporting students the opportunity to offset the cost of their court reporting education. StenoStrides will be awarding three $1,000 scholarships on July15, 2024. Last year we awarded three scholarships and our giving came full circle as one of our recipients graduated this spring.

I have included the link for the StenoStrides annual StenoScholars application, as well as the direct link to our website, www.stenostrides.com. This is for students that have been enrolled in a verbatim reporting program for a minimum of one year. The deadline date is July 1, 2024. We would ask that you share this with your students, and we look forward to awarding one of the three designated scholarships to one of your students.

The Fourth Chancery District has a job opening for a full-time official court reporter beginning May 1, 2024. Chancellor Debbra K. Halford, Fourth Chancery District in Southwest Mississippi, is seeking an official court reporter due to the retirement of the current reporter. The Fourth Chancery District holds Court in Magnolia (Pike County); Tylertown (Walthall County); Liberty (Amite County); and Meadville (Franklin County). Southwest Mississippi is a great place to live with a low crime rate and great schools.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: In addition to having a mandatory certification, an applicant can apply for temporary permission as a noncertified court reporter. The prospective court reporter can make application to the Board of Certified Court Reporters (application attached) for reciprocity if the applicant has successfully passed the RPR examination administered by the National Court Reporters Association or the CVR examination as administered by the National Verbatim Reporters Association, understanding the applicant must ensure that his/her examination scores and a copy of his/her certificate and/or license is furnished to the board. The graduate/student will need to have their application approved by the Board of Certified Court Reporters.
