⭐ Principal's Message

Dear Students, Parents, Guardians and Caregivers,

This week, our KLO community honoured Earth Day by heading outside and cleaning up our property, surrounding neighbourhoods and spaces. These contributions make a difference, and it is our hope that KLO students will continue to care for our school, community and land in such positive ways.

The KLO PAC followed up our Earth Day event with a BBQ that included a variety of burgers, vegetables, roasted potatoes and fried onions. Thanks for serving such a great spread, KLO PAC. Also, thank you to all of the students, volunteers and staff who helped to make the BBQ a huge success. Thank you Safeway for your generous donations to this BBQ.

KLO continues to focus on its Student Learning Priorities – The ABC’s (Academic Growth, Belonging and Community), as we strive for a strong finish to the year. We are also working hard on middle school transitions, as we support grade 6’s coming up to join us at KLO and grade 9’s moving onto secondary schools. The final months of the school year are always a very busy and exciting time. Having said this, we have lots of work to do and we encourage our KLO learners to connect and reach out to teachers, and caring adults, if they need any support with the ABC’s. We are here to help.

Jazz band students are competing in the Whistler Band Festival this weekend they did a great job performing today. Way to go! Have a wonderful weekend, KLO.

🍎 Attendance Matters 🍎 Attendance Matters

Coming to school regularly matters far more than many realize!

When students attend regularly:

  • They gain consistent access to instruction and hands-on learning

  • They get immediate feedback from teachers as they learn

  • They build friendships and develop social skills

  • They feel connected to their school community

These experiences are essential for both academic success and emotional wellbeing. If challenges arise, please reach out. We're here to help!
