Letter from the 'Editor'

Hello LSSPs,

We are well into the second semester of the 22-23 school year. Spring Break is around the corner!

I hope everyone had a wonderful winter break, I know I did! Lots of things are in the works and I have started planning next year's events.

The legislative session has started! Education is usually one of the top areas of concern and this year seems no different. As the decisions are made and laws passed, I will try to keep y'all updated!

Please check out our professional development sessions we are hosting at Region 10! You can use this link here to see a list of trainings scheduled for LSSPs (this link we be updated as new trainings are added, so be sure to save it).

Please reach out if you have any questions or concerns.

Keep on being School Psych'd!

Survey: Dr. Laurie Klose Returning

On January 31st, Dr. Laurie Klose was supposed to join us in person for two half day sessions, one regarding counseling as a related service and one addressing social justice in the field of school psychology. We had long waitlists, but due to the winter storm, we pivoted to a virtual format and opened the session up to more people.

However, I know some people were still unable to attend. As such, we may be able to bring her back to Region 10 at the end of March. Please complete the survey at the link below:

TSBEP Update TSBEP Update

The public comment time frame has closed for the proposed rule regarding the LSSP title. Now TSBEP will review the public comments and then vote to either adopt the rule and send to BHEC or revise the rule or vote completely against adoption. Hopefully the issue will be discussed at the April 13, 2023 meeting!

Looking to Contract? Region 10 Opportunity

Region 10 has recently expanded our Direct Services department to add some new positions. These irregular part time positions are an effort to support smaller school districts and charters that do not need a full time evaluator, but want to have an easier time to bring in contractors when needed. To that end, Region 10 is looking to add special irregular part-time evaluation professional positions.

If you are an LSSP who is looking to or currently contracting with LEAs and would be interested in this role, you can learn more here.

See the "LSSP - Temporary Part-time" or "Bilingual LSSP - Temporary Part-time" listings for more information. If you have additional questions, please contact Shelee Duke, Assistant Director for Direct Services.
