Why CTE? Why CTE?

"Civic skills are becoming essential workplace skills as AI reshapes the job market and employers seek graduates who can communicate, collaborate, and solve problems."

These fundamental skills are incorporated into every L2IC CTE program.

Full Story: Forbes (10/1). Tech&Learning SmartBrief/Future October 2, 2026.

"The Construction Industry in 2026 remains deeply challenged by a persistent workforce shortage, as highlighted by the AGC's annual Workforce Survey, which found that 88% of firms continue to struggle to find enough qualified workers. The shortage is driven by factors such as an aging workforce, inadequate exposure to construction careers and a skills gap among new entrants. HR leaders are grappling with high attrition rates and the need to develop employees' technical and soft skills. The shortage complicates project delivery, inflates hiring costs and forces firms to invest more in training and retention initiatives."

L2IC CTE Building Construction program is preparing new talent to fill these gaps with the foundational skills and industry recognized certifications. The students develop the entry skills required to be successful from maintaining a safe, organized space to measuring, reading blue prints, following instructions, operating power tools safely, and working together on group projects.

"HR leaders are turning to schools, and apprenticeships. Hiring electricians has become the most acute challenge in construction, driven primarily by the surge in AI data center construction. Contractors report that electricians are harder to find than any other trade, as data center projects demand larger numbers of highly skilled workers for complex wiring and systems integration. Existing training pipelines cannot keep up with demand. Project delays due to workforce shortages are now widespread, directly impacting revenue and timelines."

"Macrina Wilkins, director of market insights at the Associated General Contractors of America (AGC) in Arlington, Virginia urged contractors to recruit through outside staffing firms and build direct relationships with high schools and career and technical education programs."

L2IC CTE Electricity program is creating a talent pipeline needed to fill the gaps for contractors to complete projects utilizing with fundamental skills for complex wiring and integrating systems in all types of construction, including AI data centers.
