Principal Message Principal Message

October is shaping up to be a month filled with celebration, creativity, and school pride at Dr. Torres Elementary! We hope your family had the opportunity to relax, make memories, and enjoy some well-deserved time together. As we begin a new nine weeks, we are excited to welcome our students back for a season of learning, growth, and community events.

๐Ÿ“š Barnes & Noble Book Fair

Join us on Saturday, October 24, from 1:00-5:00 p.m. at Barnes & Noble at The Fountains at Farah for our very first school book fair. This is a wonderful opportunity to support literacy while spending time with family and friends. Our 3rd-grade students will also have the opportunity to perform throughout the event. Due to space limitations, performances will be scheduled on a first-come, first-served basis, as Barnes & Noble cannot accommodate all 3rd-grade performers at one time.

๐ŸŽจ๐ŸŽถ Fine Arts & Bright Minds: A Night of Music, Art, and Academic Growth Mark your calendars for October 29 as all 3rd graders will showcase their incredible talents, creativity, and academic achievements of our students.

Event Schedule:

  • Academic games and grade-level activities begin at 4:30 p.m.
  • Student performances begin at 5:15 p.m.

โค๏ธ Red Ribbon Week We will also be celebrating Red Ribbon Week with fun activities throughout the week that promote healthy choices and reinforce our commitment to being a drug-free school. Students will participate in themed days, school-wide activities, and meaningful conversations that encourage them to make positive choices for their future.

As we step into this new nine weeks, we look forward to partnering with you to help every student learn, grow, and shine. Thank you for being part of the Dr. Torres Elementary family. Together, we are building a community where bright minds, big dreams, and student success take center stage.

With gratitude,

Kathleen Ese

๐ŸŒŸ๐Ÿชถ Raptor Families โ€” PBIS Campus Expectations Reminder! ๐Ÿชถ๐ŸŒŸ

We are excited to continue strengthening our positive school culture through our PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions & Supports) Campus Expectations. These shared expectations help all students feel safe, supported, and ready to learn each day.

Please take a few minutes to review our campus expectations with your child and talk together about how they can show these behaviors at school every day.

โœ… Be Respectful
โœ… Be Responsible
โœ… Be Safe
โœ… Be Ready to Learn

When our Raptors soar by following these expectations, they earn recognition, rewards, and celebration opportunities throughout the year โ€” and we love celebrating their success! ๐ŸŽ‰

Thank you for partnering with us and helping our Raptors soar to success every day.

With appreciation,

Your Campus Team ๐Ÿชถ๐ŸŒŸ

Dear Parents and Families,

Welcome to Counselor Cove! October is a special month dedicated to making healthy choices, promoting kindness, and raising awareness about important health issues. Together, we can help our students build positive habits, develop caring relationships, and become responsible members of our school community.

โค๏ธ Red Ribbon Week

October 26โ€“30, 2026

Red Ribbon Week encourages students to make safe, healthy, and drug-free choices. Throughout the week, students will participate in dress-up days and activities that promote healthy living and positive decision-making.

How can parents help?

  • Talk with your child about making healthy and safe choices.

  • Encourage your child to say no to harmful substances.

  • Be a positive role model by practicing healthy habits.

  • Remind your child that asking a trusted adult for help is always okay.

๐Ÿ’™ Bullying Prevention Month

Every child deserves to feel safe, respected, and accepted at school. October is a great time to remind our students that kindness matters and that bullying is never okay.

How can parents help?

  • Encourage your child to treat others with kindness and respect.

  • Talk about the difference between conflict, teasing, and bullying.

  • Teach your child to speak up and tell a trusted adult when someone is being hurt.

  • Keep communication open so your child feels comfortable sharing concerns.

Remember: Small acts of kindness can make a big difference. Let's work together to create a school where everyone belongs!

๐ŸŽ€ Breast Cancer Awareness Month

October is also Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a time to recognize the importance of health awareness, early detection, and supporting individuals and families affected by breast cancer.

Families can use this month to talk about the importance of caring for our health, supporting loved ones, and showing compassion to those facing health challenges.

๐ŸŽฎ Level Up with Kindness!

At Dr. Torres Elementary, our goal is to help every student level up by showing respect, making responsible choices, and supporting one another.

Thank you for partnering with us to help our students grow academically, socially, and emotionally. Together, we can make a differenceโ€”one healthy choice and one kind act at a time!

With care,

Your School Counseling Team
