A Message From Ms. Modiest

Dear Parents/Guardians,

The month of March has been exciting! The students and staff are realizing how fast this year is flying by. We are anxiously awaiting for Spring! We experience all kinds of weather so remember to dress appropriately. The Wharton Wildcats enjoyed a few warm days and back to the chilly weather. The students participated in some St. Patrick's Day and theme related activities. Some ideas included leprechauns, gold coins, and lucky shamrocks. They dressed up in their green and learned some fun facts about the Irish culture. So we noticed that you don't have to be Irish to enjoy all of the fun.

Spring Break is here! Please enjoy your time with your families. The Wharton Staff will have the opportunity to have some fun and family time as well! We will see you back on Monday, March 31, 2025 ready to learn!

Just a reminder: We are tracking tardies. Every 3rd tardy will result in a detention. We want to support our families in developing appropriate practices. Being on time for school and ready to learn is important.

Breakfast will start daily at 7:20 and 8:20 on Wednesday late starts. We will begin school promptly at 7:50 on regular days and 8:50 on late starts. If a child is late please enter Door #4.

We appreciate your support in the following:

*Making sure your child arrives on time and attends daily.

*Completing all classwork and homework assignments.

*Promoting a love for reading.

Sincerely,

Raquel K. Modiest, Principal

News from Mrs. Sanchez (Kindergarten) Classroom... News from Mrs. Sanchez (Kindergarten) Classroom...

Kindergarten has been working hard getting ready for First grade. In math students are working on learning different strategies to add within 10. They are also making wonderful progress on fluently adding within 5 with daily minute tests.

During ELA, students are learning how to identify the Beginning-Middle-and End of a story as well as the characters and setting. Students also learned that stories have messages. Students are working on understanding the message the author is trying to convey.

On Saint Patrick's Day students had a great time searching for leprechauns in the building and finding their gold. Students built traps and created many thematic projects.
