📚 LRC Updates: End-of-Year Info & Fun Summer News! 📚 LRC Updates: End-of-Year Info & Fun Summer News!

As we head into the home stretch of the school year, here is everything you need to know from the library to help us wrap things up smoothly—plus some exciting news for the summer!

Closing Checkouts & Continuing the Fun 🛑📖 Our regular library collection will officially close for student checkouts tomorrow. However, our doors are still wide open! We will continue with our regular library lessons, and students will still have access to grab "free books" during their LRC time all the way until May 22nd.

A Quick Favor for Your Newsletters 📝 As we gear up for inventory, the great book hunt begins! I would be incredibly grateful if you could add a quick blurb to your upcoming class newsletters asking families to check under beds, behind couches, and at the bottom of backpacks to return any outstanding library books.

Summer Library Hours! ☀️ I am so excited to announce that we are going to keep the LRC open for our families once a week over the summer! We’re still ironing out the exact dates, times, and programming. I will share those details with you as soon as they are finalized so you can pass them along to your students before they head off for summer break.

Thank you for being such fantastic partners this year and for supporting our readers!

Wow, what a night! Our One School, One Book celebration was a total blast, and we owe a massive thank you to every single one of you for making it happen.

We were absolutely blown away by the turnout—having over 300 people join us was incredible! Even better, we managed to get more than 1,500 books into the hands of our students. Seeing their excitement was definitely the highlight of the week.

This celebration really was a team effort. We want to give a special thanks to everyone who:

  • Helped the kids create those wonderful self-portraits (they looked amazing!).

  • Spent hours behind the scenes planning every detail.

  • Jumped in to run the stations and kept things moving with a smile.

  • Shared all those blurbs with families to make sure we had a full house.

We truly couldn't have pulled this off without your hard work and heart. It’s so clear how much this team cares about our readers, and we’re lucky to work alongside you. Thanks for everything!

Help Shape the Future of Our LRC! 📚 Help Shape the Future of Our LRC! 📚

As we approach the end of the school year, we are taking time to reflect on our LRC structure and programming. Our primary goal is to ensure we are fully meeting the needs of our teachers, and your input is vital to discussing how we can best structure our library moving forward.

We want to hear from you! We would love to get your feedback on what is working, what isn't, and how the library can better support your classroom instruction. If your team would like to discuss this collaboratively, I would be absolutely thrilled to attend one of your upcoming PLC meetings. Just let me know what date works for your team!

Tech Tidbits and Information

Chromebook Troubleshooting Tips

Here's a how-to slideshow with some basic troubleshooting tips for chromebooks. It includes information on how to fix a sideways screen, clearing your cache and turning off accessibility mode.

Vivi Updates - Extended Screen

For those who wanted to extend their desktops instead of mirror your screen you now can! Using the desktop vivi app you can set up multiple screens. Here's a quick how-to from microsoft or please reach out to Kristine to help!

YouTube Update

Elementary students cannot access YouTube as of June 2025. While this has its good points it may create a wrinkle in your teaching if you want students to utilize secondary video sources. If you have any questions or need support finding other options please reach out to Kristine. :)

Daily Sub Tech Capabilities

New this year, daily subs will use a chromebook issued from the LRC. These devices can connect to Vivi using classlink, however, daily subs do not have the ability to print.

They also do not have access to many Classlink and instructional apps. Please keep this in mind when you are planning an absence.

Below is a snapshot of what you're daily substitute will see in classlink.
