A message from your principal/Un mensaje de su directora
Dear Stonewall-Flanders Community,
Did you know that October 5 was World Teachers Day? It began in 1994, and it is an opportunity to remember and honor those teachers from our past who made a positive impact on our lives. Mine was my 6th grade Reading teacher, Ms. Thompson. As I was an English language learner, she always encouraged me to do my best, never gave up on me, and highlighted every bit of progress I made. She was genuine, and caring, and I remember her fondly. What teacher do you remember who made a positive impact in your life? But, we can also thank the teachers we currently have for their commitment and dedication to teaching, and their impact on students' academic and social growth. In fact, throughout the month of October, to show teachers our gratitude, we will be handing out “Shout outs” during the school day, recognizing them for their efforts, and highlighting their commitment to instructional best practices and a positive campus culture. We can never thank our teachers enough for their hard work and dedication, but we love bringing just a little joy to their day.

¿Sabían que el 5 de octubre fue el Día Mundial de los Maestros? Comenzó en 1994 y es una oportunidad para recordar y honrar a aquellos maestros de nuestro pasado que tuvieron un impacto positivo en nuestras vidas. La mía fue mi maestra de lectura de sexto grado, la Sra. Thompson. Como yo estaba aprendiendo inglés, ella siempre me animó a hacer mi mejor esfuerzo, nunca se rindió y destacó cada progreso que hice. Era genuina y cariñosa, y la recuerdo con mucho aprecio. ¿Qué maestro recuerdas que tuvo un impacto positivo en tu vida? Pero, también podemos agradecer a los docentes que tenemos actualmente por su compromiso y dedicación con la enseñanza, y su impacto en el crecimiento académico y social de los estudiantes. De hecho, durante todo el mes de octubre, para mostrar nuestra gratitud a los maestros, entregaremos “Shout Outs” durante el día escolar, reconociéndolos por sus esfuerzos y destacando su compromiso con las mejores prácticas de instrucción y una cultura positiva en el campus. German-American Heritage Month/Mes de la herencia Alemana-Americana
As a dual language campus, we believe in honoring and celebrating cultures around the world. October 6 marks the beginning of German heritage month. Students may wear black, red and yellow to school this week to celebrate German culture in our country.
Como campus de dos idiomas, creemos en honrar y celebrar las culturas de todo el mundo. El 6 de octubre marca el comienzo del mes de la herencia alemana. Los estudiantes pueden vestir de negro, rojo y amarillo para ir a la escuela esta semana para celebrar la cultura alemana en nuestro pais.
Early Release & Parent Teacher Conferences/Salida temprana y Conferencia de padres y maestros
October 9 will be an early dismissal day. This time is provided to allow teachers an opportunity to conduct parent teacher conferences. Be on the lookout for information from your child’s teacher regarding setting up an appointment for a conference.

School Holidays/Dias feriados
This coming Friday, October 11, and Monday, October 14, are school holidays. There will be no school for students or staff. Enjoy the 4 day weekend!

Mark your calendar! Literacy Night will take place on Thursday, October 24, here at Stonewall-Flanders Elementary, from 5:00-6:30 PM. Each grade level team will share strategies and easy, fun activities you can do at home with students to support the development of their literacy skills. Come enjoy a night of learning, snacks and community!

Fall Festival Update/Festival de otono, actualizacion
Make note! We have revised the date of our Fall Festival to Friday, November 15. This fun filled event will include a costumes, music and dancing and carnival games. It will be centered around our theme for the year “Stronger Together.” Our students will have the opportunity to dress up as characters, fictional or historical, who have been an example of working as a team, or being stronger together. Teachers are having conversations with our students regarding the theme as well as costume ideas. Be on the lookout for our flier with more information, coming out very soon!
¡Marquen sus calendarios! Nuestro primer baile de disfraces anual de otoño en Stonewall se llevará a cabo el jueves 14 de noviembre. I’m seeing good Emergent Tree strategies being used inside and outside the classroom. Talon Tickets are being given away to students who demonstrate the Falcon way of being safe, respectful and responsible. Keep it up! We draw talon tickets every morning during announcements, and students pick a prize from the Choice Board. Keep SOARing to new heights Falcons! Good Luck!!
Veo que se utilizan buenas estrategias de Emergent Tree dentro y fuera del aula. Los boletos Talon Ticket se le reparten a los estudiantes que se observan demostrando la forma del Halcón, siendo seguros, organizados, respetuosos y responsables. Sorteamos boletos de Talon Ticket todas las mañanas durante los anuncios y los estudiantes eligen un premio del Choice Board. ¡Sigan elevándose a nuevas alturas, Halcones! ¡¡Buena suerte!!

Please do not drop off students in front of the school prior to 7:15, as there is no supervision prior to 7:15. For their safety, we do not want any students sitting outside unsupervised. Thank you for adhering to our set procedures as we continue to focus on student safety.

Dismissal Procedures REMINDER/RECORDATORIOS de Procedimientos para la salida
Thank you so much for your continued patience and cooperation during dismissal as we prioritize student safety. As you approach the school, for your safety and the safety of others, please remain in your vehicle, and a staff member will walk your child to your car. Please refrain from parking and walking up to the building, as the increased amount of foot traffic at the front of the school contributes to a congested and unsafe environment for our students and staff at dismissal.
Muchas gracias por su continua paciencia y coperacion durante nuestra despedidad de escuela. Al acercarse a la escuela, por su seguridad y la de los demás, permanezca en su vehículo y un miembro del personal acompañará a su hijo hasta su automóvil.
