Technology is a powerful tool, but it's easy to let it run on autopilot instead of working for you. This quick 5-minute activity helps you take control of your digital life by turning your daily screen habits into intentional choices.

Step 1: The Quick Audit

Write down your answers to these two questions:

What is 1 digital habit you have that makes you feel great? (e.g., listening to music while studying, video chatting with family)
What is 1 digital habit that leaves you feeling drained, distracted, or tired? (e.g., scrolling social media right before bed, checking notifications while doing homework)

Step 2: Build Your "1-1-1" Blueprint (3 Minutes)

Create 3 personal rules to keep your tech use healthy by filling in the blanks below:

1 Place: Pick ONE spot where technology is off-limits.
- My Rule: No devices in/at ____________________. (e.g., the dinner table, my bed after 9 PM)
1 Time: Pick ONE daily habit to do without screens.
- My Rule: For 30 minutes every day during ____________________, my screen stays away. (e.g., homework, morning routine)
1 Swap: Pick ONE screen habit to swap for an off-screen activity.
- My Rule: Instead of ____________________ when I’m bored, I will ____________________. (e.g., scrolling reels / go for a walk)

Take a quick photo of your 1-1-1 Blueprint or keep it somewhere you see often (your desk, your binder, or inside your backpack) as a daily reminder!

Send your 1-1-1 Blueprint to edtech@pusd.us for a chance to win prizes!

Entertainment and tech have the potential to spark meaningful conversations. And tech planners are a great way for kids to have a shared understanding of how your family makes the most out of entertainment and tech time.

Use these tech planners to help your kids think through important questions around tech use: What will I do? How much time will I spend? Am I making thoughtful choices?
