🐾 This Week at WHS
4 WHS Students Recieve WAEF Scholarships
Four WHS seniors were awarded scholarships by the Washington Apple Education Foundation (WAEF) on Wednesday! Every year, WAEF awards scholarships to seniors with direct family ties to Washington’s tree fruit industry or who plan on pursuing a career in the tree fruit industry, and these are the lucky WHS students who received 2026 scholarships and shared messages detailing what the opportunity means for them!
Congratulations to Paloma Canela, Khloe Suppes, Ruby Perdomo Dominguez, Hugo Lopez Sanchez, and good luck on your future endeavors!
🐟 Ag Field Trips Teach Learn Real-World Applications
Animal Science - Last week, 50 animal science students traveled to Spokane to listen to a talk by animal behavioralist and autism activist Temple Grandin. Watching our students connect with someone who has made such a powerful impact in the worlds of animal science and autism advocacy was incredibly special!
Advanced Fish & Wildlife - Ms. Jaspers Advanced Fish and Wildlife class got to go explore stream restoration along Peshastin and Derby Creeks! A great field trip to tie together all they’ve been learning in the classroom. Special thanks to our community partners like Cascade Fisheries that share their wealth of knowledge and create these unique opportunities for our students.
💡 Things to Know
10th Grade SBA Testing Continues Next Week
Great work, sophomores -- your first week of SBA state testing is officially over! Families, take time to celebrate their accomplishment this weekend before we come back for another week of SBA.
Next Week: Math! 📊
Most students will take next week's test online in their math classroom. All students MUST bring their fully-charged Chromebook to their exam. 10th graders who complete all parts of both the ELA and Math SBA will be granted off campus privileges at lunch to end the year. We are proud of their time and effort to show what they know and can do! Students must arrive back on time to continue to leave campus at lunch time.
